no mate the phantom patches are only for the non linux boxes but the newest UR images have been uploaded here for the TM linux boxes.
what is phantompatch
it's a firmware patch for the NON LINUX tm's.
You can use softcam keys in a Linux box to open what the phantompatches open.

As you'll quickly discover, I'm very, very new to all this. My box is a Technomate 5402HD but I haven't got the money yet to have it installed, (it's going to be part of a motorised system with a Triax 88cm dish.
Can I ask is what you're saying is that a phantompatch on my non-Linux receiver does more or less what softcam keys do for a Linux one? So, equally are softcam keys never of use with a non-Linux box?

Yes precisely the only difference is that Phantom's Patch for the TM series of Non Linux receivers have the softcam keys built directly into the patch where as a Linux box would require a manual install of these same softcam keys.
I have a TM 500 UR Image (I'm sure its Linux)
CCCam V2.1.01
I cant download addon or update anything. My EPG is not refreshing. I suspect teh UR server is no longer supporting.
I am looking for a new image.
Any suggestions
Will Phantompatch work I dont want to brick the TM 500
If its designed for the TM500 than yes but quick google and could not find ant mention of it for the TM500 so most likely you will not be able to.
IMHO I would get rid of it and buy something like the maxdigital 1000 http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Digital-Satellite-Receivers/MaxDigital-Linux-HD-Receivers/MK-MaxDigital-XP1000-Single-Tuner-DVB-S2-HD-Enigma2-Linux-Satellite-Receiver
