View Full Version : very slow internet connection on box
i got a vu+ solo 2. had it for about 2 weeks , noticed that when using kodi a lot of links dont work , or buffering ,,so done a speed test ,,,i have plusnet 78mb/s fibre and using a ethernet cable ,,,kodi is downloading at 4.1 mb/s , so i installed the speedtest plugin for the box , and its the same,, tried wireless and same test readings,
i am lost, hope someone on here can help before i go nuts, my computer speedtest is about 74mb/s on a cable, and my iphone is about 33mb/s
Just because a speed test shows 74mb/sec doesn't mean a download will (ever) achieve the same.
I'm not sure what bandwidth you need for a typical programme, but it will be nothing like 74mb/sec.

your provider is i expect blocking kodi
its not just kodi that is slow ,, its my solo 2 box also watching tv, speedtest shows 4mb speed
4mb/sec is probably about right for an SD channel.
its only on my broadband , works fine on my brothers ,,we both got plusnet ultra fibre. but my mobile phone and computer runs fast at 34 and 75mb/s ,,driving me potty
I have the same problem. Also have fast fibre broadband from Plusnet.
I used to get 40Mb reading from Netspeedtest plugin as standard and 20Mb through a PIA VPN connection.
Now its down to 0.33Mb reading from either normal or VPN.
So much so that any HD streams are pretty much unwatchable.
Do you guys have any ideas please?
I am running latest OpenVix with minimal addons on a Vu+ Solo2
I run through a Ethernet switch. All other feeds are receiving round about 40Mb.
Thanks
