Hello, i have a vu duo that the sound suddenly stopped. only way i could get it to work was turning it off and back on again. id had enough so reflashed the image but now i cant get it to pass the loading screen, ive tried all different images, old and new and i cant get it to budge. There no access via the remote controller but can access via control center on laptop via telnet and ftp. Any idea's im just stuck what to do next. Its so frustrating.

Orginal or clone?

Try formatting usb again and try fresh flash.

Could you try flashing an image without a HDD connected?

i've disconnected the internal hdd completely, installed the new image via the front usb port with only the power lead and hdmi connected in the rear.

Format the usb using the HP usb formatter or do a FULL format and try.

Sounds like bad flash or something stopping it from booting up

Okay thanks, do you mean full format of the USB or the vu box? If so the box how should I do this?

Thanks for your help!!

... just full format the usb stick.

Okay well the process I've been doing is as follows...
Format USB to fat32. Then load latest bootloader. Safely remove from Laptop. Plug into front USB port of vu duo with only power lead and hdmi connected at the rear. Turn on box, USB reads and conpletes within seconds. Reboot and remove USB.
I then format USB again to fat32. Install new or old build (I've tried server all old and new) insert into usb slot on duo and switch on at rear. It does the update and installs Untill remove and reboot screen comes up. I remove the USB and turn off then back on again. But it's still stuck on the same loading screen. I don't think it's the USB, I think it's something on the box stopping it from loading but not a clue what as it was working fine till I had the problem of no sound, this being the reason I reflashednin the first place..

You said before that telnet was still working.

If it still is, try "init 4" to stop enigma, and then "init 3" to restart it.

Are there any crash/debug logs?

ive tried init 4 and init 3 and nothing happens, i;ve tried lots of different builds and still stuck at the same screen, what would be the telnet command to check the status of the system to see if any bugs or errors are present?

thanks for all your help

Crash logs are usually held in /media/hdd/logs

Still nothing, ive tried lots off different images old and new still nothing. I did telnet command of init 4 followed by enigma2 and ive attached a file with the readings it kicked out..

Do you have a USB mouse or keyboard plugged in?

No mate nothing, i'd disconnected the internal hdd and only have power lead and hdmi cable connected at the rear. This is all i had connected all the way through flashing. it doesnt load up at all so i plugged ethernet cable into the back so i can telnet to the box. But still no luck??

Just that it starts with:

BlackHole 3.0.3 bm750
bm750 login:
root

root@bm750:~#
...
and it doesn't look like a Vix log to me (although a VU+ Duo may look different...).

I tired a blackhole image as it wasnt loading on vix, but it comes up with the same for what ever image i use. I want the vix image but i cant get it to shift from the vix logo spinning..?

In particular it would print which device is producing the EVIOCGNAME error (always assuming that Vix is suffering from the same error...)

Try disconnecting your HDD and reflashing 4.2.027. The receiver defo a genuine one, not a clone?

Google and try 3.0.808 or Apollo Build 021 (or earlier), that will tell you if its a clone or not.

The next lines on my (successful) boots after that "setting policy2: letterbox" are:

so the problem would seem to be somewhere in there. Not that it helps all that much since we still don't know the specific cause...

would that suggest there is something up with the video hardware as this appears to be the next item on the list..?

Hi havin issues here too with the latest versions of Vix.

Tried version 4 2 023, 4 2 021 and 4 2 027. I have falshed multiple times. Here's what happens.

Flash from scratch-> channel search, setup softcam all fine.
Then if I try and install a skin for example and try and apply it, box dumps and then wil not boot, so I have to reflash again. Done this about 6 times not with different versions as above and also with a USB drive and a HDD. No matter what I try it dumps.

I managed to perform an image backup on version 4 2 021 but as soon as I went into UI settings it dumped again and now wont boot again. Very frustrating. No logs in /media/hdd/logs. Will try and flash again now. Any tips welcome.

Thanks,

Richie.
