Newbie help required, - Recording playback issue, audio but black screen

Hi folks,
Total newbie to satellite boxes, introduced to them by a work colleague who set mine up with a Maxtor external drive for recording, formatted FAT32. My issue is that I can record something to the hard drive, it shows in the directory but when I try to play it back I get the audio but the screen is black. If I press pause on the remote I get the play/stop/pause strip along the bottom of the screen, but still no picture. Any help gratefully received, please explain in simple terms due to me being a dinosaur with computers!

In softcam manager, what softcam is ticked?

Sorry for the late reply, family in hospital took up time. CCcam 2.3.0 is selected

You are best Initialising the HDD to Ext4 which is a must for Timeshift/Recordings etc.

Thanks for the help guys, advice taken, plus seems I had connection issues with the hard drive, so once unmounted and remounted picture appeared - Grandkids over Xmas fiddling?
