Jailbroken Iphone 3GS not booting after Erase all content and settings

As the title, i've tried to Erase all content and settings on my jailbroken Iphone 3GS, but now it wont boot. Only is to restore through Itunes, but Itunes will only give me the option of restoring OS4.2, I want to restore OS4.1 so it can still be jailbroken.

Is there a way of restoring OS4.1 without using Itunes?

It can be done with itunes.
You download an image of 4.1 from web and you can force the iphone to use the download as a recovery in itunes.
I will try find the site for you but last time I looked there were loads of them.

Actually it was 4.0.1 I was looking at at the time... Will check if same for 4.1.

There are also rumours around about JB for 4.2.1 due.

I see a few comments about not working to install going from 4.2 to 4.1.

This Iphone has never been on OS4.2, highest its ever been is 4.1. So in effect I'm restoring what was on it. I hope .....

boss use tiny umbrella to get a .shsh and then let itunes updates to 4.2 then downgrade it to 4.1

thats how i did my sisters ipod touch 4.1

I can't get nothing from it unless I restore an OS, its not booting.

dont worry tiny umbrella will pickit up and make a .shsh file as long as the phone comes on to the point it asked to plug into itunes

did you have cydia installed as if you did there is a 90% chance that its in the cydia repo already

look in the cydia repo with your serial number to see if your iphone has a .shsh stored

i'm just trying to find it my brother knows it but the lazy git is still in bed

in the mean time try the tiny umbrella route all you do is double click tiny umbrella and conect your iphone

then once the phone comes up as connected does not need to be started just nneds to be connected then press create .shsh and thats it

i'm just gonna recreate a .shsh on my phone so i can see the procedure to do it then report back

on the left hand side did you see your phone connected and if so did you click your on your phone so that the save shsh icon apeared

i just reaslised some thing boss when you lick save shsh it will pull any shsh made before had from the cydia shsh repo atherwise it will create them

I have jailbroken my Ipod touch on 4.2.1 with redsnow

I had this trouble before on other firmware versions. If you download the 4.1 firmware to your pc do a shift restore. The whole process should go through till almost the end but then you get an error message on itunes. As far as i know thats the bit where its trying to sign off and itunes will not let it. At this point you should be able to use tiny umbrella to kick it outta the mode its stuck in

Tried restoring in many ways Recovery mode and DFU mode, just get 3194 error. Edited hosts file still no joy.

Another update. I had Itunes 9.2 installed. Got pissed off and thought fook it just update the damn to get it working lol.

Any looks like Itunes 9.2 is restoring it to OS4.1. I'll report back when it finishes. Fingers crossed.

Re-installing Itunes 10, OS4.2.1 it is, had enough messing around with this lol.

The unlock was official through Orange and Itunes. Restoring now to 4.2.1. See if it completes.

Yeah mine was the same from T-Mobile so I was never worried about getting the newest bassbands but had a few mates who lost unlock after jailbreak. I have just kept mine on 4.1 as there seems to be a minefield of stuff out there at present and as you know they are bloody tempremental devices. I had the same problem as you in that I had to put 3.13 on before there was a JB for it just so as I could get back to 3.12

you need to start ts server then it wil look for thes blobs on the ts server if thre are no blobs your basically screwed

actually do that and see what it brings up if there id a 4.1 shsh then that will be downloaded to the tiny umbrella app

not really, some people just dont particularly care about jail breaking their iphone. ive had both the 3G and 3GS and yes i have jailbroken both but on the last one i couldn't be bothered any more so i h=just left it as it was.
same goes for me HTC desire, i could very easily root it but i simply cant be bothered.

yeah i agree pheonix i got my iphone at 4.1 when spirit stopped working and i left it i only jailbroke it becasue it was able to if it wasnt i would have left it and been happy infact i spent £120 just on apps before i jailbroke and even now i buy my apps i only ail broke it for the little winterboard mods and being able to downgrade.
