In previous Openvix builds I was able to watch tv on my PC via Web TV in Open Webif. Has this feature now been removed?

I have tried flashing without restoring any plugins but the Web TV option under 'Main' in Open Webif is missing.

I believe you now have to set a password on your box to view this way.

Thanks for your reply. Any ideas how to do this?

You have to log onto your box using Telnet/Putty or which ever pc you use.
Type in these commands.
(name of your box) login: root
Password:
Last login: Sun Nov 1 06:43:08 GMT 2015 on pts/0
root@vuduo2:~# passwd
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: password updated successfully

Set a password using Putty, restarted the box and still no option for Web TV under 'Main' in Open Webif

Have you enabled http authentication in the openwebif configuration menu on the box?

That's not the problem.
Actually there even isn't a problem at all:
OWIF was just modularized to make the base package as small as it used to be with OWIF 0.4.x so that boxes with tiny flash can benefit from the bug fixes too.

Themes have been split into enigma2-plugin-extension-openwebif-theme ,
WebTV is in package enigma2-plugin-extension-openwebif-webtv and
VXG (required for WebTV to work in Chrome/Chromium) is in enigma2-plugin-extension-openwebif-vxg

Install whichever subpackage (s) you need through opkg and you are set.

The password is required if you are accessing OpenWebIF at all from outside your home network.

The code has been changed recently so that the webtv (also vgx and themes) parts are separately installable packages. I assume you've just updated to 4.2.021?

These now exist and you'll need to install teh ones you want from the plugin menu..

enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-vxg
enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-themes
enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-webtv

Thanks of the update.
I was advising the password scenario after reading other post that said some members were now having to have a password on the box to access Openwebif.
I am still using the original openwebif and its still working perfectly. Will this eventually stop working?

Thanks

What do you mean?
The OpenWebif from feed is the original, latest version.
It contains dozens of bug fixes compared to 0.4.x, but of course your old version is not time bombed or something like that.

Ha.
What I meant was I am still using the latest original openwebif and I can carry on using this.

If you happen to live in a free country, you can do as you want :)

If currently you got OWIF 0.4.x installed (You can see the OWIF version using "About" in OWIF) and perform an upgrade, you will get the the direct successor to it, the bare OWIF without Themes, WebTV and VXG.
If you do not perform an upgrade, you don't get an upgrade, it's that simple. :)
