Open Webif

Hi everyone..Fairly new to all this but hopefully someone can help. I'm using Technomate nano 3t with Open Vix. When I open webif on my pc I can stream from the internal hdd of the box..but can anyone tell me how to stream from an external drive. If I expand the remote on open webif and navigate to the files on the external drive all I can get are screenshots..is there any way to actually stream them please.
