Hi Guys,
Looking to replace a sky hd box and magic eye setup. Does this box support the IR over the RF to change channels?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Nope, only sky boxes. You will need something like the Triax tri-link kit.

Do you mean no on the IR, or no on the lot?
Cheers.

The SKY box (older models anyway) accept the IR commands directly from the coax cable connected to the RF2 output. This output also provides the 9V DC supply to the "magic eye". The Technomate has an RF output but doesn't work the same as the SKY RF2. You would need an alternative solution which supplies power to the remote eye and an IR extender which is placed where the Technomate IR sensor can "see" it. You could look at the Triax or, alternatively, the board sponsor has a solution available - http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/av-distribution/ir-senders-magic-eyes/philex-slx-omni-link-plus-omnilink

Another suggestion, but admittedly, not sure if it suits whatever your requirements are, but could you not just use the remote in the Open Webif interface?

I would myself, but her indoors wants a remote!

It's a good suggestion, though, to use webif to control the channel changing if you have a good wifi connection in the other room - could even stream the video to a tablet or laptop. The minor extra advantage of the kit from WoS is that it can control up to three devices, so if you had another device like a DVD player with an RF output (SCART - modulator) you could control it from the other room. Longer term, CAT 5e cabling would allow you to stream HD quality from one box to another. I have a sat box in the bedroom and sometimes watch stuff I have recorded on the main box in the living room. SD streams over wifi for me ok, but HD is a struggle. I really should run some cable!

If you want a low cost solution look at the technomate nano. It has a magic eye included for free and you can extend it to any length you need.

What nano is that? I don't see it on the site?
Unless you mean the ir extender which is not the same thing at all.
