Hi,
take a look with the PC tool MediaInfo which format the video has. STBs do not support all variations of media formats.

M4V was developed by Apple and most files in this format are protected by DRM and in this case = no chance.

Hi,
as far as I understand it mp42 is a version from Microsoft and hev1 seems to mean hevc aka h265 which is the codec used for UHD which means no chance for you. Does VLC on you PC play this file?

Basically put it's a satellite receiver not a PC and as such you can't simply add codeks to play multiple formats. Either it plays or it does not and if it does not your going to have to recode the file to a format that the receiver will read.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/631200/unable-to-play-hevc-files-on-ubuntu-14-04-lteThere is also a libmp4v2 package on Ubuntu.
Not that it necessarily helps you on Vix, but code seems to be available.

Hi,
I know that VLC plays h265 I only wanted to take a look in the codec information which VLC gives.

Hi thanks all for your input
yes it will play on my PC with VLC 2.2.4

51392

So it's no big deal if I can't use my STB, just thought it worth asking.
I can use my laptop via HDMI

Just a thought, will the VLC plug-in for Vix work ?

thanks

Hi,
as you can see it is indeed h265 (UHD) so no chance on your box.
