Hi Folks,

I'm looking for some advice and this place seems to be full of knowledgable people :)

I'm looking to leave sky as it costs a lot and apart from the football we mostly watch free to air channels. I do however want a dual tuner and hard drive to watch and record another.

From what i've seen i can go for the Humax 1100 which the big retailers like John Lewis and Currys sell or there's the side i'm unfamiliar with which would be the boxes which feature more on here like the VU+ Solo 2.

I don't really want to spend more than £250.

What's the pro and cons when comparing these boxes or similar to the VU+ or in other words, why should i not get the Humax? :)

The Vu+ boxes and other Linux based boxes you see on forums lime this one are infinitely customisable with a very large community of developers releasing all kinds of plugins etc. The human however is not customisable as it's OS is closed source where the Linux boxes are largely open source save for drivers etc.
