Which Linux Receiver?

Hello, I am thinking about investing in a Linux based receiver. I have it narrowed down to a possibility of three receivers; GigaBlue HD Quad Plus, Evo Enfinity X2+ or a Miraclebox Premium Twin+.They all look similar in specifications. Can anyone tell me which is the best unit in terms of ease of use and reliability or the one(s) to avoid? :confused::confused:

I would pray you to study the possibility on a enigma 2 linux BOX with at least 750 MHz CPU ( if your saving permits) with a IGB memory possibility. This is only a brotherly advice based on my daily handling of my LX3. Of course you should consider other
propositions from this forum members .

What exactly do you need? What tuners? Satellite? Hybrid? Internal HDD?

Thanks for the reply. I am looking for a good quality receiver with at least 2 DVB-S2 and 1 DVB-T2 tuners. Will be connecting it to a HDD, not too worried if it is internal or external. Also want to be able to stream to other devices in the house over the wifi network (by connecting the STB to a router), i.e. tablet, laptop etc. The picture quality in both SD and HD is important and the box should have enough processing power that it will be good for a number of years. The budget is for something under €300.

Thanks for the reply and the links. Why do you prefer the Vu+ Duo 2 over the Xtrend ET 10K? What is the main difference's between them and is it worth the extra cost?

One noticeable difference is the parsing and downloading of epg data. Very quick on the Vu+ Duo2, very slow on the ET10K. The Vu+ Duo2 is a lot nicer looking imo. Thanks again for the information. I am new to this type of STB or Enigma 2, so sorry for the questions! Let's assume that I could stretch up to the VU+ Duo2, which image do you recommend that would best suit my requirements? :confused:

The OpenViX image in my opinion is by far the best image available. Everything you need is in this image. Be it to creating a Sky UK channel list, using the ViX's very own AutoBouquetsMaker (ABM) will give you this. CrossEPG gives you your 7 day guide. Timeshift will give you the option to pause Live TV. You can customise skins to give you the Sky look, you would install Blue HD or if you fancied the BT youview feel you would install YouViX-Blue. You have AutoTimers which is similar to Sky's Series Link, you have Timers which are basically one off recordings. The list goes on n on. A fantastic image which is continuously being improved by the Dev members behind the scenes.

I wouldn't say very slow, takes just a few seconds longer. Many receivers read the EPG data like Xtrend do inc. HD2400, anyway this does not affect normal usage as its done in the background mainly.

Personally I'm not a fan of the Duo2 LCD, both ET10000 & Duo2 are similar hardware specs, imo in normal use the ET10K is a faster receiver. Colour LCD on Duo2 imo slows it down a little.

Hello and thanks for the reply. I see that the ET10000 has a HDMI in port. Is this something that is actually useful or is it just a marketing gimmick? Can you connect a DVD player to this and then use the receiver to copy the DVD to a hard drive connected to the receiver? Has it any other uses?

The ET10000 is about €100 cheaper than the Vu+ Duo2. Which receiver has the better components / build quality? Is the Duo2 worth the extra money?

HDMI IN Port has been offered on 3 models that I know of, to record from HDMI you would need to setup a timer recording, both use good quality components.
