solo se usb problem

hi all i have a solo se v2 with a cable tuner into the usb slot,i have tried to put a splitter in the usb to enable me to record and store epg,but cable tuner will not work and solo cant see the usb,anybody worked a way around this ?

There are 2 usb ports on the back (none on the front)
