View Full Version : Venton unibox HD2 Stuck on booting - Bulging Capacitor
Hi.
I have a Venton Unibox HD2 which has been stuck on booting all weekend. After inspecting i can see a capacitor slightly bulging. Now i can solder a bit but im no expert to maybe change the capacitor or is there anywhere i could buy a new pcb to replace the faulty one, Hoping that will sort the stuck on booting issue?

Might be easier to take it to a phone/tv repair shop and ask them to do it for you. A new PSU will cost you quite a bit.
Wold you say that capacitor is definitely faulty then? If so ill get it changed

It is definitely faulty. It may be a better idea to replace all of them depending on difference in cost.
Good find by the way.
These capacitors are quite easy to replace and cheap.use desolder braid to soak up old solder once heated. There is a line down capacitor to denote which way capacitor goes in so mark pcd to make sure you put it I right. Done this on a couple of tvs with 100% success.
Luckily i have a pal who can do this, Just need to stump up the 70p for a capacitor lol
UPDATE -
Changed the capacitor and the box booted straight away. Capacitor needed was a 1000uf 10v electrolytic.
Hope this helps someone in the future
Well done, feels great to do it yourself Dosn't it
Just has the same problem a few days back & all sorted (£10). I took it to a local PC repair shop. I fitted the 1000µF 16V 105°C Radial Electrolytic Capacitor from Maplin (74 pence). £10.74 not bad at all. Thanks.
Should have saved your self the tenner and soldered the new cap in place your self. Even with poor to no soldering skills it's a very east job to do.
