would a triax link (not tri link kit), work with a vu solo2?

No. That's for giving new sky boxes, that don't have rf output, an rf output. It has a small din type plug on it that no Linux box has.

Would one of these work with my Gigablue Quad Plus box?

I already have a magic eye and coax going to the bedroom from when I had Sly.
Does it work the same?
I.e. Can you change channels, turn the box on/off from the bedroom?

Yes it will work but u can also get an app for ur phone that uses your wifi network to make ur phone into a remote. Not sure if the app works for your box but it works for my vu solo box
