View Full Version : What's the best receiver with the following specs.....
Looking at options to change my main host receiver.
Needs to be powerful - good CPU / Mem / Flash.
Gig Lan
Have a single Cable Feed x 2 Sat cables in the room / don't want to use splitters - so ideally a triple tuner box with 2 cable tuners (internally split) & 1 sat.
Fanless so silent operation.
Good quality remote
Should be a looker :)

This model does not have a dual cable tuner and as far as I know xtrend do not do a dual cable module, you would need to buy an extra cable module to this and either externally loop through or split.
Only VU+ as far as I know does a dual cable module, which if you wanted satellite as well would mean you buying a duo2 or solo4k.

Ps just seen you require fan less so the solo4k it is which is totally fan less.

If you want fanless your consider the Miraclebox Premium Twin+:

This model has 2x Hybrid tuners and 1x Satellite tuner. You will need to either use a small loop cable from hybrid tuner to hybrid tuner or use a 5-1000mhz splitter.
Excellent machine imo, I use one of these as my main test box atm due to how fast it flashes images and boot times are quick.

I like the specs of this box - I do have a Premium Ultra - how does this compare to that?
So If I use a small loop through between the two cable tuners I will be able to watch one cable channel and record another without issues and still just have the single cable feed from the wall?
Yes, or use a 5-1000mhz splitter.
Only thing the ultra does and twin+ doesn't is transcoding.

Ahh I see and transcoding would be required for apps such as Plex for remote streaming? If so then I can carry on using the Ultra for that purpose.
very informative - thanks.
Plex don't need transcoding to use it.
