Hi,

What would be the best way to lock all the menus on the remote control and only allow a few selected things a basic user would do with a standard Sky box? Things like:

- Channel zapping
- EPG viewing and bouqet section access
- Timer channels + timer records
- Recording programmes and playing them back?

Out of the box, the blue button was allowing access to view ViX menu and all sorts.

I've tried to customise the coloured buttons and their long presses to the following from the button setup:

Red - Activate HbbTV (RedButton)
Green - Sets timer
Yellow - EPG Search
Blue - EPG event info

Not sure if this is the best way, but my main goal is to stop members of the family who have never used an advanced box like this before, end up on the wrong sections and mess with the settings.

I've also set up Parental Controls but I feel like it's over protected since I keep having to put PINs in different sections.

Does anyone have the best guide for locking the system down as cleanily as possible without locking too many menus or making a mess of button setups and whatnot?

Thanks.

still messing i see :D might be a good idea to first make a backup of your image via blue button and backup manager just in case .dont think hbbtv is available to us.would it be better to guide them thru the general use of how to access epg to search for a program they want to view or record.

Hi,
a simple idea is a universal remote like a Harmony where you only assign certain button. You keep the original remote and then you are the king:-)

ciao

We meet again! I've taught the guys on how to use the RC now and have set it up as a universale remote for the TV but it's always the case of little ones around the house with me lol. They're like tornados passing through! :smash:

That's probably the most simplistic solution to this problem! Thanks for the suggestion Trial.

EDIT: Damn those remotes cost alot! Any temporary solution while I persuade myself into buying one? I've just spent money on another Solo2 so can't treat myself to one of those just yet.
