View Full Version : Kodi 15.2 on E2 receivers

I've noticed that the more up-to-date Kodi 15.2 (rather than the really old XBMC from VU+) is now available from plugin feeds from another image for compatible VU+ receivers.

From what I can gather, it looks like the XBMC version that VU did (or part there of it) is open source so a coder of this other image updated it to the more recent Kodi 15.2 version.

Anyhow, I was wondering if it would be possible for Vix to possibly look into including this Kodi 15.2 in their own feeds as they do now the VU+ XMBC plugin?

The other image is also an open-source image!

Are you talking about kodi direct?

That is in the feed

bbbuk
29-02-16, 22:14
No, it's not Kodidirect. It's actually Kodi 15.2.

A coder has continued the work from where VU+ have left off as the VU+ version doesn't look like it's receiving anymore updates/improvements.

Why would you want 15.2 when 16.0 jarvis stable was released a few days ago.. ??

Why would you want 15.2 when 16.0 jarvis stable was released a few days ago.. ??15.2 is still a lot better than the one within Vix feeds still titled XBMC as that's how old it was lol.

16 hasn't been released yet for E2 but I hope it is relatively soon.

Safer to link to their GIT/repository.

And maybe PM the forum name.

it is on OpenPLi forum for weeks and only for certain VUs. Look in 3rd party.

ciaoI've noticed that but I thought it was for modded pli images where the dvb proxy drivers have been used instead of normal ones because xbmc/kodi requires gles/dvb proxy drivers and pli, as yet that i'm aware, don't officially use gles/dvb proxy drivers. Kodi within pli is based on the work done by the coder of the other image I believe.

Actually its available on several receivers (not just VU+) on another oe-a image thats (in my opinion) a little closer to ViX .... just not Xtrend ..... So the plugin is in their feeds for the receivers..... Mut@nt is one of them

Does this mean its not available for xtrend units. or just not compatible? been using the Kodi-direct, but would be great to get a more user-friendly interface if possible?

Hi,
XBMC/Kodi are working with gles graphic routines. If a driver of a STB does not support it Kodi will not work.

I've been using a backup image of Vix with Kodi 15.2 pre-installed that was on another forum and haven't noticed any problems at all either with Kodi but more important with Vix image.

I emailed the developer of that image & he suggested you can upgrade to version 37 by online update ( provided you are not using a cloned box) & you will still keep your kodi 15.2, will definitely try it this weekend.

Set refresh rate on your box to multi, playback a 24hz film and check the input feed to your TV, usually info button.

Wouldn't I expect to playback at a frame rate of 24hz if image is set to multi and obviously the actual thing I'm trying to playback is a 24hz (ie NTSC). Most things available from kodi are more likely to be 24hz.

I'm using the backup image and unable to find kodi-ffmpeg as a package name (or any obvious names close to that).

Even using "find", I was unable to find a filename matching *ffmpeg*.

What is the actual filename?

Is there anything I can do to help?

Open a telnet session then enter this.

opkg list *ffmpeg*

47256I had already tried that but with list-installed as wouldn't it be installed on my box now as I'm using kodi 15.2.

"list" is just what's available from feeds, whereas "list-installed" is what's installed and therefore needed. If I can use Kodi 15.2 and this ffmpeg package isn't installed then it can't be needed!

That make sense?

Better to check what is contained in ffmpeg, backup images are not allowed here but i have created a few myself for the Solo2 with Kodi 15.2 & was simply trying to be helpful replying to this thread.

If I remember correctly (& that can be difficult at my age:) )Rossi was concerned at the diifferent versions of ffmpeg installed depending on whether it was a normal Vu+ build or one that builds in the Kodi support and trying to find a way around it without messing up normal image builds using the oe-a

Hope that makes sense. :thumbsup:I didn't intend to sound funny.

I was just trying to say that I'm using the modified image backup with kodi 15.2 and ffmpeg package is not classed as being installed on my image and Kodi 15.2 is working as does, as far as I can tell, the image itself. Therefore, I don't think it's needed otherwise I would have found it when I initially did opkg list-installed *ffmpeg*. It's only listed in "list" which just lists package available to install (but may not be installed) :)

I have just got my Vu+ Solo2 up and running, with OpenVix 3.2.037 installed.

I also have an Amazon TV Fire Stick running Kodi and it would be great if I can get rid of this and run Kodi on the Vu.

From reading through this thread then it sounds like this is not possible with the build I have and I shall keep an eye on this thread for news of when that might change.

Please correct me if I am wrong and it can be done now

No you can do that already, just download xbmc plugin from the open vix feed & install it. Only problem is it is version 13.2 & we are hoping for an updated version in the next image

could someone please post a screenshot of the kodi interface, as im confused if it will be kodi like, or like the xbmc pluigin that I already have, also is this "backup" image ok to try on my xtrend or is it purely for vu type set top box's?

I would love a full kodi install, especially if can get regular updates and "skin it" using the various "all in one" installers available?

Hello everyone.
Anybody knows if is possible to add a favourite in kodi 15.2 on vu+ like on pc version? I.e. in pc version I can go on a movie or tv series, click on right button of the mouse and choose "add to favourite" to create a shortcut to the streaming... ho can I do the same thing on enigma2 version?

Please don't hijack this thread & start a new one if you are having issues with kodi.
Anyways here is the answer you are looking for,
You can do that even on xbmc 13.2. Download keyloger plugin, assign a key for Rt click option & then use the function to add anything to your favourites

@Rossi, when you were trying this was it based on OE-A 3.2 or the 3.3 that you're currently testing now?

I ask this because there are problems getting the mod image to work with ATV 5.2 but it's fine on ATV 5.1. The only difference, I assume, is version of OE-A core!!
