I'm new to these cable boxes and not very technically minded so I wonder if someone could give me some advice,I don't have satellite TV -I just have Cable

I'm thinking of buying a
Miraclebox Mini+ Hybrid 1x DVB-C/T/T2 Cable/Terrestrial HD 1080p PVR Digital Receiver
Is this a good one?
If it is ....

They offer as extras :

USB 50GB Hard Drive

Enigma 2 Firmware / Image Options (Flashed Free Of Charge):
Factory default
Open ViX (latest)
Egami (latest)
Open MB(nightly build
OpenATV(nightly build)

USB Storage
8 GB
or
16 GB

USB WiFi
150mbps
or
300mbps

Networking Powerline Homeplugs

Could anyone explain what the extras are actually for and which of them I need

I have never used a Miraclebox so can't comment - what I would say is if WOS sell it I'm sure it's decent.
USB HD - needed if you wish to record. As you are looking at a single tuner you can not watch one channel and record another. You could record the channel you are watching or record when you are out.
Firmware- just spec the Open ViX (latest)
USB Storage Used to store picons and epg. Boxes can be temperamental so a quality stick is required. Also used for timeshift if no HDD is fitted - get one.
USB WiFi Box needs to be connected to the internet. Either ethernet cable or WiFi. If you require it to be connected wirelessly I would choose the Edison Mini as it's inbuilt. (personally I would choose this box anyway)
Homeplugs Allows for networking through your home's mains wiring.

Thanks very much for your reply -- It explains a lot

I've had a look at the Edision and may well go for one of those

Hi
I think this box has 1 usb at the back and 1 at the front.
The one in the front is only of use if you leave the flap open.
The one at the back you can either use as
1 Hard Disk to use for recordings and EPG and Picons
or
1 USB stick for EPG and Picons
or
WiFi stick
You can only record what you are watching as you can only watch or record 1 at a time.

Suggest you look for at least a twin cable tuner and a couple of USB slots in the back as a minimum.

Is OpenViX SW the same as OpenViX latest?
