View Full Version : [ViX_Misc] Doscam for OpenVIX
Hi,
I'd like to know if there is a versione of Doscam for OpenVIX as it doesn't seem to be in the Softcam directory.
Thanks,
G

Any one please?
Very little. Doscam was an attempt to make oscam simpler. However you only now need 2 files oscam.server and oscam.conf to run Oscam as a client.
Doscam thus died mid 2014 and it doesn't appear any more.
Use Oscam. It is pretty straightforward to use and it is easy to convert Cccam lines to Oscam using a free converter if you don't understand Oscam.
I'd be interested if you could pm me this easy setup John please

I gave up in the end can't get my head around it . You can get mgcmd conf files dead easy but oscam is like getting blood out of a stone .
Agree mate, yet then people say it's easy so help please!!! Lol...

My thoughts also I thought it was just a case of transferring over via ftp same has mgcmd . Mgcmd is working good so will stick with it. Unless help is around the corner. :nono:
Nobody is going to explain setting up oscam when it's already done & has an extensive WIKI explaining every configurable option.
So if putting mgcmd conf files on the forum why not oscam. If I could get my head around it I would not bother people I thought that what forums are for helping people who don't understand certain things .

It has been done before. I'm sure they can be found on a search.
Anyway...
Install oscam-latest from the plugin feeds.
The ONLY file needed to start oscam is oscam.conf, this file gets placed in /etc/tuxbox/config/
The Only details this file needs to start with is a [webif] section.
# Read more: http://www.streamboard.tv/svn/oscam/trunk/Distribution/doc/txt/oscam.conf.txt
[webif]
httpport = 16002
httpuser = admin
httppwd = admin
httpallowed = 127.0.0.1,10.42.0.0-255.255.255.255
Once the cam is installed & config file added: blue button -> Softcam Manager, start oscam.
Now, using a web browser, go to the boxIP:Port No. (16002 in above example) and configure from there.
Each configurable option has a link to explain it, so time to read the manual...
Thanks judge appreciated :thumbsup:
Well I have made progress got oscam to start :amen:. Next episode webif . Has they say Oscam was not built in a day. :sweating:

If you're using a local card, use the config files Ureyesonly posted above.
If it's a new sky card, it needs a boxid in the ####oscam.server#### part to work, a fake number will do here for now.
device = /dev/sci0 might also need to be changed to device = /dev/sci1 depending on the box/slot for card used.
Very few options actually need to be set & all can be fine tweaked in oscam webif afterwards.
Thanks judge for the help giving it a rest tonight , darts so I will post tomorrow :thumbsup:

Yes that was the reason I wanted to try Doscam. But if, as you say Oscam has been made simpler too, maybe I'll give it a try. I need it for two cards (SRG and TivuSAT), so I hope it won't be too hard to set up. At the moment I use CCcam for viewing and Scam for updating, But I'd like to use one for both....
