Still can't sign into FileZilla and connect to my box. I enter my ISP as the host name, username as root. I leave password and port black but it fails to connect. Any ideas??
Your isp is not the host name - the box has its own ip address on your lan
I am using the IP address from the box under Network information menu
The port should be set to 23?
Try typing password in
Don't know the password
Sorry for confusion , type the word password into password box
just tried Host: Box IP Username: Root Password: password Port:23
Have also tried with port with an empty field but no joy

What do you mean by "fails to connect"?
Is there an error message?
If you input an invalid username, do you see something different?

Getting error message - Response: 500 OOPS: vsftpd: not found: directory given in 'secure_chroot_dir':/var/share/empty
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
Try googling "500 OOPS: vsftpd: not found"
think im going to have to bite the bullet and reflash the box and start again.
Which way is best and easiest? Factory restore the box or is it just a case of loading new VIX image on a USB and powering up box?
The box is VU SOLO2 SE, think its a clone. can anyone recommend the best Image to use that is 'clone safe.'
