Hi Gang,

I have just ordered an Xtrend 8000 from world-of-satellite.co.uk
I am hoping some of you more experienced & knowledgeable folk can offer some advice on buying a compatible hdd for it Please!

I did intend to remove the drive from the old sky box, but my son in law has just managed to blag the box

So i now need to buy a a 1TB drive for my ET8000

I do understand that a slower drive will be quieter & run cooler, however I am a little confused as to exactly which type of SATA drive will be compatible.

SATA?
SATA II?
SATA III?

If anyone can point me in the right direction or has any recommendations, please fire away!

Thanks a lot

Seagate 1TB 3.5 HDD cheaper than 2.5 and fits in ET8000

You can get hold of cheap Sky + HD receivers. Although HDDs are likely to be 500GB, they are dedicated PVR hard drives. They run cooler and quieter. 500GB serves me fine.

The ET8k should have a plugin to control the fan speed. Depending on the image you use the plugin is embedded or should be installed via feeds.
