update froze

Bought a VU+zero 16/10/15 for my brother
Its running open vix,
channel 5 disappeared a few days ago then most of the epg. When he came in this tea time open vix was updating but it looked like it froze (was on update for nearly and hour)
Anyway he rebooted his box but now all there is, is the world of satallite start page with open vix on screen.

Any ideas on how to fix? he has no idea how to flash or anything and I am not there so if possible laymans terms or an idiot guide for him.

Sorry I have no info on the build number or version as am not at his house and he is not techo savvy

nothing happens when he presses the remote so he has no clue as to the build etc, 68 views and not one piece of advice??? not even a pm to tell me how to get the info you need to be able to help me ?
