Hi All,

I have a VU+ zero with openvix-3.2.027 it is working fine but i am not able to get it to timeshift to a usb without the following message.

"Creating Hardlink to TimeShift failed! The filesystem on your TimeShift-Device doesnt support hardlinks. Make sure it is formatted in EXT2 or EXT3! [errno 17] file exists"

If I ok the message the timeshift is working but I dont want to see the message every time.

The USB was formatted in Fat32 and then initialised and mounted on the box.

Any help would be gratefully received!

is it a cheap chinese usb or larger named ? usb can give issues if not liked by box.

No its a 4GB Kingston, I have also tried an 8GB Sandisk and get the same result.

kingston is good and sold by sponsor, are you powering off box completely as it might unmount then.
do you have any other usb on box by any chance?

you need to mount it first. I had similar issues in the past and decided to go for a normal HDD 500gb (that you would get in a desktop pc and a HDD portable mount (you can buy from maplin for 20 quid) and never had an issues

No matter what you do with it, a 4 or 8GB stick for timeshift isn't adequate.

Thanks guys! I'll get a external hard drive and try that.

That was short lived now i am getting the message "Creating Hardlink to TimeShift failed! The filesystem on your TimeShift-Device doesnt support hardlinks. Make sure it is formatted in EXT2 or EXT3! [errno 1] Operation not permitted"

Any Ideas?

Did you initialise the external hard disk when you originally set it up?
