Hi

I'm a first time buyer so have no experience.

I'm after an enigma 2 box. I only have one cable coming from my satellite dish.

I would like a stable box with good picture quality. Also I want it to be able to record and even series link record if possible.

Budget isn't a problem but obviously I don't want to spend unnecessary money. Just want the box to be good quality so don't get freezing, crashing etc.

Thanks for any advice for a newbie.

With a single feed coming from your dish, you are limited to what you can do obviously. You would only be able to record and watch the same channel. Look here for some ideas;

The Vu+ Solo SE V2 is a better spec box, but all depends on your budget, setup etc.
I would personally upgrade your LNB to cater for a twin feed, then look at the Vu+ Solo2 or the Xtrend ET8K.

I could get a twin tuner box that way I can get additional cables installed in the future

What are the differances between the vu solo and the et8000?

They are similar spec'd, but I personally prefer the Vu+ Solo2. Better looking, better remote control, loads quicker at reading/parsing CrossEPG data as apposed to the Xtrend which is a lot slower at doing this.

For a single feed you can't go far wrong with a Miraclebox Premium Micro - they're more than fast enough and the one I have has been rock solid.

Throw a spanner in the works here an go for the Gigablue Quad Plus.

I see the VU's the same as iPhones - boring, over priced, old technology, living on the brand name.

Gigablue maybe more unknown, but the Quad Plus is the best looking receiver, has very good spec, is silent running, and has 2 built in satellite tuners with space for 2 more add in cards (satellite, cable or digital tv). I've never had any (hardware) problems with the 3 I have. In fact in the support forum, it always seems to be VU related problems. Probably cos they're more popular - but that's my opinion anyway.

Yep, great little box, same spec as VU+ Zero, less expensive and better looking :)

Depends what the op wants, imo the Mutant HD2400 wipes the floor over any other quad tuners box on the market, faster than all of them.

Riiiiight.

Thanks for the replies but looks like I still have a lot to choose from

Are hard drives easy to fit? I have a spare 2.5inch sata from upgrading my ps4. I have recently built a pc from scratch so would I be able to fit the hard drive in my self?

If you can build a pc, fitting a hdd in a compatible receiver will be a breeze. [emoji3]

So most of the Boxs above can't accommodate an internal hard drive.

Can you guys recommend a box for me that has room for a 2.5inch sata hdd that only needs a single coax cable from my satalite dish?

Cheers

Most of the twin tuner receiver will take an internal HDD..
