Hi all after trying to download a trailer with the apple trailers plug in.The trailer wouldn't download but the box wouldn't let me exit the recorded programs menu,so I rebooted the box with the switch at rear of unit and now my box is stuck on displaying starting.... On the front of the box and going no further, any ideas on how to remedy this :(

5 to 10 mins should be enough

as far as i am aware there is an anti surge protection bulit into box to stop surging so if power is shot away and back like a real surge the box icks in to protect mode and wont turn on so you just need to make the box think again that its being turnt on as usual

ok maybe a flash corruption or a folder out try reflashing a fresh

happens with windows pc machines a power cut can corrupt the boot loader MBR so could be same here

what may of happened is the corrupted download crashed the box not allowing it to start

if you can ftp try first to delete the appltrailers folder from /media/hdd

Ok just reflashed going from VIX image to black hole and so far so good box has gone past starting to initial set up wizard I'll see how I get on with this for a while,I was very comfortable with VIX but I was getting a he'll of a lot of crashing I'll see if this runs more stable for me. Thanks for all advice Silverfox much appreciated :-)

your welcome mate

i will add though i use the apple trailers too and vix 1.3 and i have not seen a problem yet it must have been a one off error

if ever you decide try vix again i'm sure it will be ok

I think I'll play with black hole for a day or two but I will most likely go back to VIX it just seems more UK centric and in my experience has what I need in a very quick and easy format to setup.
