Help I'm lost - I'm new
Hi I'm a complete beginner and hate to admit it.
I'm considering a Vu receiver. It's only needed for 1 TV (a simple setup) - a Linux box using OpenVix. I have a small/ standard SKY digital satellite dish. I'm looking for very fast CPU / performance (to avoid a slow GUI). My friend mentioned to consider Vu. It seems popular.
1. What would you suggest as the best make and why, please?
2. What is the most reliable make also, please?

2. What do I need to consider overall before I buy in terms of technical details?
3. Why have more than 1 USB tuner on a receiver?

For decent CPU performance, you should be looking at current generation 1.3+ GHz 2 core boxes.
Your budget of £100 is a bit limiting though.
Also, be aware, while VU make quality boxes, the box you mention is sold as a zapper, not a recording box. It can record, just isn't an official selling feature.

Maybe use the sponsors compare function on a few different boxes to see what suits your needs.

Up to £100 would only get you a basic single tuner receiver. You won't be able to watch and record much.

What not consider £129 and look at the Xtrend ET9500 http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Digital-Satellite-Receivers/Xtrend-Linux-HD-Receivers/Xtrend-ET-9500-2x-DVB-S-S2 Twin tuner receiver that can have internal HDD. Not as fast booting as the latest 1.3GHz receivers, but during normal use watching and recoding TV you will hardly notice any difference, if any.
