A/V Settings on VIX

Or more specifically Menu >Setup > System >A/V settings > Mdde
What is the difeerence between 1080p and 1080i ?
I've tried both and can't see any difference, are there any reasons for choosing one or the other
My tv is Panasonic TX-P55VT50

The choice is do you let your tv deinterlace the signal or the box, given the quality of your set i would let the set do it, but because of the nature of plasma unless the box is doing a bad job you won't notice much difference.
