Build 009 images released, but please note plugin feeds are currently offline as they're updating. Is it possible to get that done in reverse order, so that the images are usable when they arrive?

Rob van der Does

Nope; if that was the case that would have been done.

But images are usable at once; only the feeds are down for some time. So if you restore, only the settings will be restored. Plugings can be restored at a later stage.

Sicilian

Feeds should complete uploading in approx another 6 or so hours.

No big deal, we can just wait for that and upgrade then? I take it that we can flash from receiver in downloads section?

Rob van der Does

Yep .

Does this mean, I have to download XMBC again and then setup all sources?

Rob van der Does
06-10-15, 16:29
You'll have to install XMBC again, as it is a plugin. But I have no idea if all the settings for XMBC will be restored: I never use XMBC.

Hi,
most settings should be OK because XBMC stores at least a part on /hdd/.XBMC I have no idea what happen without a hard drive. Just in case you can save it manually or add this directory to the backup.

Thanks Sicilian for the heads-up. I just online upgraded it - all appeared to be OK and any channel I had tried came online. However after reading your post noticed that the green dot was still there (for update pending) even tough Information said I was on 3.2.009. Online update gave a blank report on new changes. So followed the advice and re-flashed (from downloads, not USB) and did restore - settings came back OK. Skin plugin came back OK. Another one didn't but I know what opkg commands to apply on a telnet session! So a clean upgrade once I seen the advice - thanks.

Restore settings will be fine, but to be safe don't restore plugins. When completed proceed to install your plugins from the feeds etc.

I also have the green update icon flashing again after 009... and 14 phantom packages to update.
Everything else is working fine. flashing icon is annoying though also flashes on lcd. (duo2)

How do we update this through downloads? is the usb flash not required?

Flyingpig
06-10-15, 20:43
Blue Buton> Vix > Image Manager >Downloads > Select 3.2.009 and download.

Then go back one stage then select the image 3.2.009 and click restore. Job done without the need for USB.

Its still a reflash, but without the need for usb.

And that restores everything into new image apart from plugins?

Hi,
the phantom updates are the reason we advised fresh flash. It is because new gstreamer. If you are an experienced use you can remove the 14 packages from the list manually. But do not ask how.

So needs fresh flash without restoring?

Ok, Thanks Trial.

I don't have tsmedia or gstreamer.
I also restored my settings to what they were on 007 and the flashing update icon went away for 20 minutes or so. Now its back.
So, I need to flash again? I have only just managed to get all of my picons back and fixed up LCDCONFIG back to how it was. =./

...ok reflashed

Flash and restore is fine including plugins. Just do not update. If you have already updated just reflash and restore.

was all good after followed what you guys said, reflash and restore.

This morning however, menu position has reset to default and there are no channel list.
So I restored to 007 settings again, put menu position back and saved settings. then update icon flashing again, 1 package this time.

Updated 1 package but dont know what it is as log is blank again.
Can we have logs with updates please?

And from now on I am turning auto update icon off. I will check here now and again for stable updates.

If you have updated not restored you are going to have a broken image. No idea what you mean about the menu.

I am just wondering is there any need to update to version 009? As I am perfectly happy with my current version 007, most of the changes will be background changes anyway. I can still access feeds etc........Why fix something that ain't broke????

abu baniaz
07-10-15, 20:24
It is an enhancement, not bug fix. So no need to upgrade.

Hi,

I don't have tsmedia or gstreamer.
gstreamer is a base component. Everybody has it.

Hi,
did you create a new backup before you installed the image? Do you use ABM?

I upgraded online, everything seems ok should I be concerned?

Also your 30 day password thing is silly, my password is unique for this site, I can honestly say if your database details get leaked I wouldn't care, changing the password just causes a huge hassle, I use lastpass and when I went to change the password your site complained my email wasn't the same, but lastpass updated the password, I then couldn't log in, so I had to go through the forgot password thing which then emailed a new password!?.. Anyway, my point, do you really need a 30 day password change!?

Make a settings backup (one should have been made at update anyway), flash 009 and then apply the settings and plugins restore.

Is it now safe to update from 010 using software update feature?

Also curious about this as I have a lot of other modifications I'd lose by performing a clean flash, will this ever fix itself with an update to lib..whatever in the future? or should I just bite the bullet and perform a clean flash, I mean other than the opkg upgrade error everything appears to work fine :) and it says I'm on version 10

What image are you on?
Did you do as you previously mentioned, ie flash 009 and restore?

ArowonA
16-10-15, 00:09
to be fair i wasn't keeping an eye on the forum and performed an upgrade to 3.2.010 (i was on 3.2.004 before) then i checked the forum and found i should have done a clean flash, i get the error you mentioned above if i run opkg upgrade but the box shows im on 3.2.010 . im probably just going to leave it as i dont have time to reinstall all my customisations, i was just asking if you think the opkg error may fix itself if the lib*whatever* gets updated in the future?

abu baniaz

I doubt it. You will have to flash and restore at some stage.

Are you aware that you can add specific files/folders to be added to the backup?

Re flashed 09 and used the 010 settings backup and seem to have imported the problem , crashed due to background software update running. Any peeps re flashing to 09 "don't use the settings backup from your 010."
