Hi,

I have had a Vu+ Duo for nearly a year. I am going to move it to another room and get a new box. I would like a Solo2 but think it may just be out of my price range.

Anyone recommend a good alternative?

I have been considering the Xtrend ET9500 as its a good price now but am worried its already getting outdated.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

P.S. I am also going to buy 2 as a friend is looking for one but is taking my lead on it. He won't know much about maintaining the software so ideally i would like a reliable box.

I'm also looking for a new receiver. Had Duo2 since it 1st came out.
Is there anything new in the pipeline as none available at moment of much interest.

Is there any disadvantage to the et8000 over solo2? Transcoding? Plugins?

Only software transcoding which isn't great anyway.

If transcoding is a feature that you require and feel that you'll use, look at the HD2400, ET10K or Duo2.

I don't think I'll use tc much. What is the IF on the tuner?I don't have that on the duo.
