a message comes up on my tv screen saying that in order to record a timer the tv was switched to the recording service.

What Andy is saying is, is that it? That message is normal on a solo2 if you don't have a spare tuner, presuming you have both tuners connected and configured correctly and you are recording something and watching something different and another recording is about to start, the box will switch from the channel you are watching.
If this is not the case then you need to provide more information, tuner config, is anybody remotely accessing the box etc.

two days ago everything was working perfectly now when i try to record i can only view channels on same transponder
