How would I go about installing Kodi v15.1 "Isengard" on my Vu+ Solo2 running the latest Vix image? I currently already have XMBC but was wondering how I could upgrade to the Kodi version?

Thanks

Simple answer is you can't.

The version of XBMC currently on your box is a semi closed source branch that would require Vu plus them selves to update it. And seeing as this version was leaked as opposed to officially released you could be in for a long wait.

Ok, thank you for your information.

is this still the case?

Is there no way to install a newer version (15.2 latest stable release) using Telnet or has nobody created an .IPK for manual install?

The only way I know for an E2/Full kodi 15.2 setup is via the wetek

The Wetek has an Arm architecture and although not designed for E2, has been reworked by Wetek and some of the E2 teams to run Enigma2 with Kodi 15.2 but not at the same time :)
You boot the E2 image from a micros SD card and then can start Kodi.
You can then exit Kodi and return to the E2 image.
Its a full Kodi 15.2 system unlike most of the Kodi direct plugins.
If you remove the SD card you get the Wetek android system on booting the system.

I know this has been said before and for only 35 quid you can't go wrong with a Firestick best thing I have had for running Kodi

could not agree more, and i'd far rather have one over a wetek any day of the week although I fully expect this post to magically disappear once the staff see it as that tends to happen when I post my views on the wetek here.

Not for me as they restrict to wifi only. Google 'amazon fire tv stick network problems' ;)

I've just bought the Sumvision Android Cyclone x 4 android box from WOS. ( same price as fire stick)
Can't fault it. Kodi runs great on it. Great spec as well.

Sorry for what might be a dumb question but I landed here from a search of the forum, I currently have a Ouya with XBMC to watch MP4's etc, but would prefer if it could all be done on the VU+ Solo2 the files are stored on a networked drive? I'm running the latest (I think) Vix image, I did find a post somewhere else saying that it could be done but you had to use a BH image?
