View Full Version : Vu Duo HDMI gone faulty
My old vu Duo receivers HDMI does not seem to be working anymore. It is quite old now and so maybe it was always going to happen. It is definetly a genuine receiver that i bought from Ebay. The box works perfectly fine and i can control it via webif and my phone. I just do not get any picture throught HDMI. Tried different cables and TV's. I can not be bothered to try repair it or find somewhere to get it fixed
Is there anyway i can still get HD using the component throughput so i do not have to use HDMI?
Thanks guys
your better off buying a newer box,but you still will be limited on hd channels available

Really, there is no way of getting any other signal to work in 720p?
I do not want to throw it away if it still partly works.
not really m8 as hdmi output does 720 & 1080, i could be wrong I'm sure some else will offer other advice.

Then what are the component connections for? I am sure that can send out HD signal.
??
maybe only upscaled
ohh thats really annoying. This is so useful as a second receiver.
Component output does HD.
You will need to add an audio cable as well as the triple Component cable.
Component (YPbPr) will do up to 1080i without a problem
So what do i need to purchase then?
I think i have found something that might work but need confirmation

So i plug these 5 cables into the correct colours on my TV and my Vu+ duo and i should get HD signal aswell as sound right?
Unless this is completely different.
Anyone?
Yes those are the correct cables. Just make sure that your tv has the correct connections as well.
Yh it has all those colours at the back

And rest assured that component is HD as well (even up to 1080p is supported when the box supports this).
And to add, the HD through the component cable is better than the HD through HDMI on many TVs.

Well, that's not good then for those many TV's.....
One point of interest: most (all??) TV's can't disable 'overscan' on component, while they can on HDMI. And that's bad indeed.

What do you mean when you say overscan rob?

I dont see any difference really.
What do you mean when you say overscan rob?It means the picture is slightly zoomed. This is very bad for picture quality because it means there is no longer a 1:1 ratio between the pixels on the screen and pixels in the data stream.

Exactly. 'Overscan' actually means that every screen pixel shows around 0.95 video pixel. No (real) HD any more.... See also
