View Full Version : Tuner confusion from a newbie...

I have some probably really silly questions regarding the recent purchase of a "VU+ Duo 2 (1x Twin DVB-S2 Tuner) Enigma2 Linux Satellite Receiver Full HD 1080p PVR READY"

Using my old SKY+ dish which has 2 cables (I assume that means it has a twin LNB but it's out of sight?), I have them both plugged in to the twin tuner card as supplied.

I did have both configured as "VuPlus DVB-S NIM(AVL6222) (DVB-S2)", "Simple", "Single", "28.2E Astra 2E/2F/2G" which I understood was correct to be able to watch and record diffent channels at the same time?

but when trying to download CrossEPG/AutoBouquet I kept getting tuner lock errors, setting "Tuner B" to "not configured" fixed this but now I'm even more confused - I thought I needed a twin tuner to watch/record? I still can with B "not configured" so, does that mean I'm still using B or not? would i have been fine with a single Tuner instead?

sorry if a bit garbled but still trying to learn the terminology

thanks

In the tuner configuration menu you should see tuner a and tuner b configured Vuplus dvb-s (avl6222) (dvb-s2)

Just tried that again ashley but before I tried to download to see if lock error happened, I tried "sat finder", this could be the problem, Tuner A shows with "Lock" checkbox checked -

44455

If I scroll to Tuner B, I get apparently no signal whatsoeve -

44456

does that means it's a cable/connector problem?

If you go to menu/setup/service searching/tuner configuration/
What does it say for tuner B

Try swapping cables around to test if its a cable problem.

it says exactly the same as Tuner A - "VuPlus DVB-S NIM(AVL6222) (DVB-S2)", "Simple", "Single", "28.2E Astra 2E/2F/2G"

will switch cables over now

tried that and now, tuner B is perfect and A is dead, exact opposite of before

should both be set the same as I have it and shouldn't I be getting signals on both?

44458

which I believe is it, wahoo!

will try download tomorrow but hopefully it'll go through - will post back

thanks very much for your help mate!

Glad its sorted. A dodgy connector on your cable then. IT happens a lot. Just give them both a good check to make sure there fitted correctly and secure.
