Dreambox Internet Speed

I'm just wondering as to what Internet speed would be required for a Dreambox.
Ideally watching an SD channel.
My friend is thinking of getting one & his speed at night is roughly 1.90mbps.
I reckon his speed is a bit faster during the day.

Hi,
around 9MBit for premium, mainly public, channel, 5-6MBit for good private channel and 3MBit for B-channel (only repetitions). This is valid for Germany but I think almost the same is valid for all countries. In most images there is a plugin called bitrate which shows the bitrate of the channel currently watched.

Your friend needs either a bigger internet line or a box which is able to transcode which means Dreambox 820HD/7080HD if he really wants a Dreambox. Other manufacturer offer transcoding for half the price.

The Internet speed has no bearing on the ability to watch TV on any enigma or enigma2 based receiver, unless you obtaining pay TV channels illegally and if that is the case you won't get any help here with that.

If if you are wanting to stream channel over the Internet to say a mobile device then that's a whole different thing indeed and does require a healthy Internet connection.
