ABM uses internet, or tuner?

Does the channel update use Tuner, or Internet?
It seems to update when I dont have a free satellite tuner, and also seems to update when my internet is disconnecgted so I can't tell the source.

IS this the same for AB 28.2E Lraizer too?

Both use the tuner.

ABM takes control of a tuner.
AB 28.2 checks if it is on a 28.2 service. If it is, it continues. If it isnt, it zaps to the sky intro channel.

Ah so AB 28.2E "shares" a tuner if both tuners are recording a program each.

Even if one tuner is on 28.2 it won't zap to 28.2 on the other tuner as it can get the data from any trnsponder on 28.2

enigma2 boxes have better picture quality, nicer interfaces, which can be customised. there are just so many reasons why enigma2 / linux boxes are better than "official" ones. The interface on an "official" box is crude and ugly lol.

As a tuner can only tune to one transponder, it is likely that for ABM an other tuner is needed in case live-TV or a recording is active. Only when the tuner is 'looking' at the transponder the ABM-scan is done from (the transponder that holds the NIT), the same tuner can be used.

No.
ABM will always use the last available tuner.
It will claim the tuner, tune to a predefined transponder and do the scan.
When the tuner is not available (e.g. recording or no signal), you will get the 'tuner locked' and it does nothing.
In case of one tuner, it will claim that one and during scan process the screen goes to 'black'.

ABM uses the same TP as CrossEPG uses for openTV EPG.
AB 28.2 uses any TP on 28.2.

The data for Sky UK/ROI is on all 28.2 TPs.

The comment in post 4 was with a quote. "It" was referring to AB 28.2 (that was what was referred to in the quote), not ABM.

AB (28.2) only has to work on 28E. It uses OpenWebIF to control the tuner. On 28E home transponder data is carried on all transponders so any transponder can be used to get the data. So all it does is check ONID = 2 (via OpenWebIF) and if not it changes channels (via OpenWebIF). So it is just parasiting off the active service.

ABM, on the other hand controls tuners internally and will close the active service (or PIP) where necessary in order to have full control of a tuner.
