Hi all thinking of tidying up all the cables I have on my outside wall , I currently have two cables from sat and was thinking of purchasing some shotgun cable anyone had any experience with this type of cable.

I have used it on customer's installations in the past and it is perfectly fine - although i wouldn't recommend it for long runs or if using a diseqc motor. Unless there is anything wrong with the standard cables you have, then i wouldn't bother replacing them.
On my installation the cables have to run from the dishes at the back of the house all the way round to the front so i opted for standard gauge SAT100 (or whatever the current spec is...)

Which shotgun cable?

The thin shotgun cable (WF65) will have more attenuation (lower signal level) compared with a good quality satellite cable (WF100)
WF65 = 32.5db per 100m @ 1GHz
WF100 = 20dB per 100m @ 1GHz

You can buy twin WF100 shotgun cable.

If you already have a good signal level and the run is less than 20m then a thin shotgun cable may be OK. Remember to consider the signal level when its raining and not just during good (dry) weather. A thinner cable may make your reception marginal during wet weather.

The most common one is the narrow one that is used in Sky installations, WF65 I think. Higher quality cable is also available.

Yes

More conventional WF100 cable

For older types of LNB the connection may need to be water-proofed either with a rubber boot or self amalgamating tape
