been looking into buying a box, been on the wos website and like the look of the xtrend et8000, seems good value etc, just a couple of rookie questions

quick link to the box im looking at
http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Xtrend-ET8000-3x-DVB-S2?filter_name=ET8000

1. After a box that can record 2 programs at once and be able to watch another at the same time - does this require me to have a triple tuner?

2. The drop down box titled "Enigma 2 Firmware / Image Options (Flashed Free Of Charge)" which option would be best, or if there is a link that someone could post to let me read up would be much appreciated

thanks alot for any help

1.yes to be able to record 2 channels and watch another you will require a triple tuner like the link you posted
2.i would choose latest vix to be flashed, you can try other images when you get more familiar with the box
have a read of the tutorials on box set up etc

Hi,
1. 3 tuner AND 3 separate cables because only if each tuner has his own cable it will work without limitations.

ciao

hi trial thanks for the reply, am i right in saying you require both a sky dish and internet to run these boxes? not a problem i have a sky dish on my property but no longer recieve sky, and fibre broadband, i thought you just plugged the fibre in, guess i was wrong. Would it be a problem if you only used 1 cable?

You will need sky dish to get freesat or sky. Internet is needed to keep the image up-to-date, i.e. ViX Hades etc. if you only have one feed (cable from LNB) then you are probably best looking at single feed receivers unless you plan to upgrade your LNB n feeds at a later date?

once again thanks for the info, makes it alot clearer now. After having a bit of research on the info you gave me i would definitely upgrade the lnb on the sky dish, they only seem cheap on ebay and run the additional cables in which would enable me to record additional programs thanks

Are you sure your current LNB does not have have spare connectors ? it would have to be quite old to be single and not a quad.

thanks for all the answers, 1 last question whats the differance between http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Xtrend-ET8000-2x-DVB-S2-1x-DVB-C-T-T2?filter_name=ET8000
and
http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Xtrend-ET8000-3x-DVB-S2?filter_name=ET8000

they both have 3 tuners but one of the tuners is different, whats the difference between the tuner? once again many thanks

different tuners for sat and cable like petrol and diesel
dvb/s=sat dish
dvb/c= cable
dvb/t=terrestrial via aerial .
as now most tuners are dvb/c/t/ allowing you to switch cable tuner to terrestrial tuner via menu.

you choose from what you want to use it on.

Hi,
inform yourself about unicable LNB this way you still only need one cable to feed 4-8 tuner.
