Hi All

I've just purchased this box and I am new to these types of sky boxes.

I just wanted it to work as a normal BskyB box. I know a lot of people recommend the openvix firmware but how is the standard firmware like? and what are the benefits if installing openvix?

Would appreciate any advice

Vix has been tailored made for this type of box, and you would go a long way to try and beat it for its user friendliness ??

thanks, so guess openvix it is.

What should I do first? Should I install a hard drive first, install latest bootloader then install the firmware?

Install HDD then vix.

Thanks, how about channel lists.

I used to use ajsat for the F5, does the same apply for this box or is there a way for automatic channel list updates?

Use ViX ABM (AutoBouquetsMaker), this can be found in Menu > Setup > Service searching > ABM

Use expert mode n schedule a daily scan to come on at whatever time you prefer. Use the "CustomRegion" for your providers.

Always use the latest unless advised not to do so.
In this case, Hades build 18 is currently the latest.

managed to install the channel lists.

When checking the epg, there are no channel logos next to the channel name, how would I get this?

Nice box but its never going to be replacement for a bskyb box as they are just not as user friendly. I've got loads of linux box's but the other half is not really interested when the bskyb is on offer as it too easy to use. Good luck though.

Well yes it is true their full capabilities are beyond the interest of most women, but I have UK sat, full euro Sat, Cable, IPTV and Kodi for my home streaming all in one box that tells me on the front display what the weather is, My Hair? I just wash and go!
