Iam thinking about moving to a motorised set-up. It's all new to me and i'm seeking advice and tips on what to get and what to look out for (Ive got a Vu+Duo).

Mesh dishes seem pretty sensible to me on account of the fact they are lighter. Are there setbacks with these dishes and would it be getter to get a solid dish.

Ive been told a 1m dish is pretty good for the Uk. Is that a reasonable size to get?

Im able to concrete a pole into the ground but ive been told it's better to get a free-stading pole as it's easier to set this to vertical. Any advice here?

All advice and tips appreciated.

Why do you want it freestanding. Most people in the UK seem to want to bolt them to a wall. For a dish that size you dont need a concrete base. A couple of 50kg kerb stones sunk in the ground with a groundstand bolted on is plenty strong enough.
