Hi guys,
Seen the new promotion on the xtrend boxes and can't decide which one to get.
Apart from the transcoding function is there any benefit/ reason to get the 10000 over the 8000.
Baring in mind I have vm 100mb broadband, would transcoding really be beneficial?

Thanks for any help.

The Mut@nt HD2400 is a fantastic receiver, its my fave receiver. The transcoding on the ET10K, Mut@nt and Vu+ Duo2 are hardware based and are better.
It all boils down to how much you want to pay and if the transcoding feature is something you want etc.

All makes/models drop in price from time to time, few weeks ago Solo2 was £239 and Duo2 over £300.

I believe that some people were plugging in their xboxes, others via a hdmi splitter plugged in their S** boxes for some reason beyond me.:) .. Sory admin tried to keep inside any rules.

I did realise that. I was looking more along the lines of for what purpose would I plug in an hdmi device?

Am looking at these boxes can someone explain what transcoding is and why hardware transcoding is better. I have googled it but still doesn't make much sense to me.

In simple terms, transcoding converts the HDMI picture into a lower quality version (depending on the type of conversion you want) which then can be viewed over a network/internet, viewing the channel on your phone or tablet. Doing it via hardware means generally a better quality conversion and takes the load off the CPU in the sat receiver and means it can be done quicker and does not slow down the sat receiver as if it was done via software the receiver's CPU would be doing all the work.
