Hi,
I have a friend who has had a Dreambox 800 HD for about the past 6 years. It's finally given up the ghost and he is going to get a new one. I have a Gigablue 800 SE, which has been fairly good, but not great. His setup is just one movable dish about 1m diameter.

I have two questions.
1) Would a VU Solo box be the best box for him?
2) Is the VU solo a similar setup to the Gigablue for updating and configuring VIX?

VU+Solo is Enigma based and has Vix images available.
It is easy to configure and add cams and set up.

If your friend was able to set up the Dreambox then he should be fine and there is great support for the VU range.

There are other boxes available, perhaps your friend might want a dual tuner box?

Vu Solo is a very old box that is no longer in production. If it is a new one it would be a clone.

Would he be better off with a VU Duo 2?

Would he be better off with a VU Duo 2?

It's a good box but take a look at other boxes too. extrend ET8000 is a very good box for the price, and yes the VU+Duo 2 or any of the VU boxes still in production are good boxes.

Perhaps ask your mate what he wants in a new box?

Depends on budget, what sort of spec he wants, single or twin tuner etc...
