best image for PVR and playback

what is the best image that will record and do perfect playback??

Im used to SKY HD, is their an image which will allow good recordings and good playback. Im using dream elite at the moment and have not installed a HDD yet. But when i play films off my usb it does not let me forward as it says its not available.

I need a image that will allow me to do series links and recordings properly.

Any ideas?

use the new VIX 1.3 and see how that is DE is not really supported in many features any more
