Got to ask the obvious question - how are you able to read your card to clear any of the channels?
No details if it's a bit offside..

Only free channels I found where s*y arts 2, bbbbttttt sprts 2 hd, euronews and rteee1

upc cable

I don't believe you can decrypt UPC cable with an official card in an E2 receiver. You may be able to view unencrypted channels.

cactikid
29-05-15, 00:41
might end up with a good box running kodidirect then, thought i read an old post saying you dont need a file and could use abm to scan on.:D

Joe_90
29-05-15, 00:56
If you have a DVB-C tuner you can scan manually and it will tune to the streams. Doesn't mean you can decrypt the stream.
ABM on cable is probably more developed for UK and some continental european cable systems. I don't think much (or any?) work has been done for the Irish cable environment which is mostly (only?) UPC. eircom have their IPTV offering and possibly Vodafone will offer next.

I have a Panasonic tv which has a hybrid tuner in it and when I plugged in a upeeec feed and scanned it pulled in all the channels but as you say nothing was clear. Went through them all and find just a few clear (see above) but I think they are mistakes as they seem to be duplicates with no epg on them - but still working a few months on.

Peterj
29-05-15, 08:53
What we need for a provider XML file for ABM is the so called 'home channel' information.
(freq. , sym.rate, netid)
That channel is broadcasting all the data we need.
If you don't now that information it will be try and error.
Did you try a full scan on your cable and did you get all the channels?
If so, can you post that lamedb?

What model Panasonic TV? It's unlikely to have a DVB-C tuner in it. Panasonic can barely produce a DVB-T (Saorview) compatible model. Perhaps you were receiving Saorview channels off the cable (acting as an aerial)? The local cable system here in Greystones is still analogue and a scan on a TV with an analogue tuner will pick up some channels - this is an exception, though. All terrestrial broadcasting is digital now and most of the cable systems have been converted. Still don't think you can clear UPC encrypted channels directly on an Enigma receiver. I believe the cards are paired to a specific box.

TV does have a hybrid tuner, cable, terrestrial and analogue (much to my surprise), but just remembered that it is a french model - bought it off pixmania 2/3 yrs ago model TX-PF42G30. The French use mpeg4 hence saorview works okay.

If I connect an aerial feed to it, it pulls in the saorview channels (including all the extra unamed ones....) though no middleware to support the teletext.
If I connect my upeeeeccccc feed I can get the 17 analogue channels, and see all the encrypted channels (with a few in the clear as stated above). The DVB-C option only appears when there is a digital cable source connected to it.

Gave back my dvr box to upeeeeeccccc a few months ago, but still use them for bb and phone

Was surprised at previous poster's question about abm, but it seems clearing channels can be done.
A little searching and scene seems to be alive and well (not sure if it's using (sea)lines and the likes;)

There seems to be something wrong with your keyboard when you type UPC ;)
Channel decryption not using own card is not discussable.

Look in the directory /etc/enigma2 - download it to your pc using an ftp program like filezilla.

Can also use Dreamboxedit to connect to your stb and read all your bouquets (abm or personnal) and the lamedb file to save down to your pc.

They are only text files so you can look at them using notepad++

cactikid
30-05-15, 13:20

Try this provider file for ABM.
put it in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/provider

Start ABM, select this in providers and start scan.

31-05-15, 08:32

Peterj
31-05-15, 14:27
mmmm. It should give some result.
ABM is always using the last (DVB-C) tuner. Is your last DVB-C tuner configured correctly and connected?
Can you activate log (menu, setup, system, logs, settings, enable debug logs), restart GUI, scan again and post log file.
(\home\root\logs)

cactikid
31-05-15, 16:02
i might have an issue with second tuner is configured but cannot record 2 programs at once, signal level says 56:( seems kinda low when old starview was 72 ish :D

i have the loop cable connected but will remove and add second feed with a powered splitter and post results back cheers.

cactikid
31-05-15, 20:30
hopefully this is it,for some reason i cannot see second tuner b,a and b setup the same and scan run on tuner a,new feeds from another splitter and cables tried cheers.

Peterj
01-06-15, 07:28
Are you shure you replaced the cable_ir.XML with the one in #31.
Your turner still tunes with the wrong symbol rate (sr).
(9292.272491> [eDVBFrontend] tuning to 291000 khz, sr 6875000, fec 0, modulation 3, inversion 2).
I changed it into 6887000.
Delete the log files , restart GUI and try again.

cactikid
01-06-15, 10:10

Peterj
02-06-15, 08:13
ok. Can you post a screen shot of the bouquet you have?
It seems this was not the home channel.
If you want to do some more testing, let's first try to find the home channel.
I can make a provider XML with all your transponders in.
You must do a scan for each transponder and look at the results.
When we have found the home channel, we can have a look at the channel numbers.

cactikid
02-06-15, 19:08
do i take it that the home channel is data only or could it be also a video one?best to ask what results to look for:thumbsup:

Peterj
02-06-15, 19:38
Mostly the home channel is a normal video channel. This channel contains all the data for transponders (frequencies) and services (channels).
When you tune to that channel, the program can read all the date and create a complete transponder and channel list.
The other channels mostly contains the data of all transponders, but only the data of the services broadcast on that transponder.
When we scan all transponders, hopefully we find the correct one.
You do not have any information of this?
In e.g. The Netherlands providers publish this information to let the tv-sets easily make the channel list (net-id, freq., modulation and symbol rate). http://www.digitalekabeltelevisie.nl/techniek/netwerktabel.shtml
For now, does ABM created a bouquet? Can you post a screenshot of it?

Huevos
02-06-15, 19:43
Not necessarily. For example Sky carries home transponder data on every transponder.

You need to scan every active frequency using that file Peter supplied to see if one carries the proper channel numbering.

Peterj
02-06-15, 19:46

max 25 options.

ok 1 pic.as requested

Open the bouquet and post a screenshot of the channels. Any of them in the clear?

cactikid
08-06-15, 01:14
changed box for scanning with vu solo with dvbsky usb tuner.
first results in the clear were rte1,upc test channel and upc customer channel-nothing else and in abm none in the clear.

scanning on frequency 150 06887 256 qam fec auto pulls in 241 services.

Joe_90
08-06-15, 07:48
Well that's to be expected - only RTE in clear plus UPC customer channels. Interesting for information purposes if your customer card will clear encrypted channels.

Peterj
08-06-15, 16:49
So, if I understand correctly:
On freq 150 you get all channels. This should be the 'home channel'.
Is it worth to invest more time to make a correct provider.xml, considering you are not able to watch the channels?
We haven't found a way yet to get the correct channel numbers.

cactikid
08-06-15, 19:18
there maybe another frequency to get another 50 odd missing channels as i have to scan each frequency 3 times, qam 16.64,256:D.

will cable boxes get more popular now with hd?

Joe_90
08-06-15, 20:09
But all this scanning and tweaking is moot unless you can clear the channels with the UPC card. Can you? What CAM?

cactikid
08-06-15, 23:04
only got mg 1.38 and cccam 2.30 blank screen :sofahide:thinking of the future if it ever sees the light:D
i have the faith:thumbsup:

EDIT: it's SDT.

LraiZer
23-01-16, 16:03
yes its SDT, but ABM is all-in-one reader. but there also a required 0xCA decscriptor in SDT reader code used for NVOD service names on satelellite 28.2e. so the problem now comes with using correct read of 0xCA for more than one protocol or ONID?

1) Delete cable_roi.xml, manager.pyo, dvbscanner.pyo and dvbreader.so.

2) FTP these files to the box. Put the xml in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/ providers

3) Restart the box (full restart, not GUI).

Hi, I've an Edision OS mini combo box arriving next week. Is there a quick guide to get both 28.2 and VMI working on the same combo box using ABM. I take it that it's not as straight forward as Sly only. I currently have a couple of working 28.2 boxes, so I'm familiar with ABM on them. I'll be getting the VMI channels cleared also

Until someone in RoI can supply us with a proper transport stream recording and help testing there is no chance of getting VMI working.

Ahhh :-( ......... is it a long way away???

How do I get the channels to appear on the VMI provider? I've both Tuners set up for both providers. An automatic scan in 'Service searching' returns all the channels from both providers. Are we saying we can't run both tuners in parallel. How am I able to 'zap' the channels from VMI?

So I set up nothing on Tuner A and VMI on Tuner B. Ran an automated scan and can see all the channels in 'Last Scanned' on EPG.

Then I set up 28.2 on Tuner A, ran ABM and all channels are there, with the VMI ones still in 'Last Scanned'

I suppose I'm asking now, is there a better way of doing it? Like ordering them better in 'Last Scanned'? Even swapping in the working HD ones in VMI (Last Scanned) into the ABM one produced for S*y

Thanks in advance

You cannot import non-ABM channels into ABM. Only option is to add an existing bouquet as the first one. Or Use programs like E-channelizer to personlise them. The changes will be lost when ABM runs.

Please do not take offence to this...
This thread is about getiing ABM to work RoI cable. Unless your questions are specific to that, please start another thread if you need to.

Please do not take offence to this..., But I was referring to RoI cable! And in fairness, this thread has gone from ABM working with VMI, then conflicting reports of it working/not working, to it not working. Others have requested the steps to get it working, to which there has been no responses (obviously because it's not working).

I can start a new thread if need be, but maybe a sticky would suffice in the interim, as I know there are plenty of RoI VM cable users on this forum

Alright, think I can help out here (after reading 13 pages some great help being supplied here)
-I currently have a working UPC Cable setup with all channels decrypted and playing fine.
--However I've had to do this manaully myself going from knowing nothing about it to lots and lots of trial and error
--Would love ABM to make life easier

-Current setup in a Vu+ Duo2 Box with a pluggable (not usb) cable tuners and pluggable sat tuner.
-NETID for Dublin is 42753
-From lots of google I found people posting various frequencies and symbol rates. I noticed these wouldn't work for me
-The only time channels would scan in for me was using the symbol rate 6875, in fact every channel is on this sym rate.

-Doing an automatic scan in Openvix, I edited cable.xml located in /etc/tuxbox
-there was an entry in there for 'cable brute force symbol rate 6887' I edited that to 6875 (also had to change fec_inner to 3) and it picked up 180 channels.
-Someone posted a Dublin Bouquet which I downloaded and used (any channels of the 180 I scanned work, the others would say no tuner lock)
[URL="XXXXXX[/URL]
-So I go to a channel that has no tuner lock, then in openvix I select signal finder
-I notice the symbol rate for the channel is 6887 so I change that to 6875 and it picks up a few more channels.
-Go through this process till now ive all but 1 channel working.

So to get everything working, I used a mixture of cable.xml and manually scanning for frequencies.

More googling and I find a post that tells me how to find what frequencies are in use by using dvbsnoop.
This captures a transport stream and outputs the details, channels and frequencies and symbol rates
--The interesting thing about this is, the frequencies it says that are in use don't work for me, it lists them all as symb rate 6887 (which as stated above isn't what works)

Anyway, willing to help out getting ABM working here for ROI Cable - since I already have a working setup and ABM works a charm for sat for me.
Once any tests don't put me back to square one. Let me know how I can help.

@Huevos, I have just had my first attempt at creating a transport stream recording (+30secs) using TSCapture, I opened it in DVB Inspector and it looks valid. The file size is 180MB so I have uploaded to my dropbox account and shared (if there is a better approach let me know). Its a TS recording of RTE One, Freq: 299000/6900 QAM256. which doesn't seem to be encrypted on UPC/VM in ROI.

Test files for you. There are no sections yet. We have only added Net ID 43218 so far. Anybody else wanting to add their regions should ideally add a picture similar to the one attached. Delete the activation code if is customer specific. Better still if someone has a complete list.

To reduce delay, if you have not already done so, subscribe to the thread with instant notifications

1. Please be on latest image 4.1-009
2. Download and extract the attachment
3. Transfer files as follows:
dvbreader.so goes in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/scanner/ Double check it has 755 properties (chmod)
cable_ie_upc.xml goes in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/providers
4. In ABM config option, ensure extra debug is enabled.
5. In image options, ensure debug logs are enabled. Reboot is required for changes to take effect.
6. In ABM providers menu, select only ROI cable 23May2016
7. After ABM runs, attach the debug log to this post. Default location is /home/root/logs/
8. If it is successful, attach the example file from following location please: /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/custom/
Name will be something along the lines of hd_cable_ie_upc_CustomLCN.xml You will have to zip/rar the file before you can attach it.

Ok, I'm based in Dublin so NETID 42753.

I've re-scanned with changes to yesterdays xml provider file:

configuration key="hd_upc_test" netid="42753" bouquettype="hd" frequency="299000" symbol_rate="6887000" system="0" fec_inner="0" inversion="2" modulation="0">UPC test 2</configuration>

ABM generates All Channel bouquet with 160 tv services and 31 radio. Containing all the usual channels Irish/UK + Movies/Sports/Docs. I visually checked and the ABM channel lineup seems to cover all channels listed on the virginmedia site.

I also re-ran with frequency="291000" and get the same result. So does that suggest Dublin has a few frequencies.

So is the next step to work on assigning the channels to bouquets?

Update: looks like I only got the SD channels in my all channels.

abu baniaz
10-06-16, 02:56
Some providers have the data on all frequencies, some have it only on the home frequency. So far, we have only had the Galway city official details provided as in post 136. I am going to assume that the frequency is the same until someone provides screenshots of the official receiver. We can then amend/add. For the UK xml, the key has the net ID, it is best we keep to this convention.

We are almost there apart from having one run with only HD channels and other only SD channels. I've been told it could be a NetID issue. Maybe you can try 43217? The official receiver will show the Net ID details, otherwise there is this thread:
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?38120-Logs-for-Pure-area-required

I attach a provider file for testing, it has the sections as well as a few net IDs that we have gathered. I'll remove them later and leave the confirmed ones only.

Attaching the xml you use is very beneficial, many thanks. Can I also ask that you enable provider name in ABM config menu. We can just keep bumping the provider name/date as we progress. Can you and also attach the EXAMPLE_hdxxxxx.xml file. It is easier to see at a glance rather than have to interrogate the log file.

EDIT: NetID for Dublin is 43217. This is confirmed by interrogating TS recording. No need to run any scripts. Incorrect attachment removed.

No nothing wrong with the output. Peterj had asked for logs to accompany my previous scan results. This scan had generated an ALL CHANNEL bouquet of 160 TV SD services and 31 RADIO services.

--######

I ran more tests using Abu's latest XML file.

<configuration key="hd_upc_ie_42753" netid="42753" bouquettype="hd" frequency="291000" symbol_rate="6887000" system="0" fec_inner="0" inversion="2" modulation="0">42753 Dublin 291</configuration>

Result: ABM scan 160 SD services. No HD.

Result: ABM scan 160 SD services. No HD.

I also ran some tests changing the frequency and symbol rate:

<configuration key="hd_upc_ie_42753v8" netid="42753" bouquettype="hd" frequency="166000" symbol_rate="6903000" system="0" fec_inner="0" inversion="2" modulation="0">42753 Dublin_v8</configuration>

On first scan of "42753 Dublin_v8" this generated an ALL CHANNELS bouquet with 167 services the additional 7 were HD services (BT Sport HD, Comedy HD). Repeating the same scan again it only found 160 SD services no HD. This happened on a few occasions on 2nd scan I got less services.

I've attached logs+LCN for hd_upc_ie_42753v8 scan 1 and also the rescan of the same provider with different results.

Other observations:

-- a lot of services have an 'UNKNOWN' name.
-- services appear to be are assigned the correct genre/sections with the updated xml.
-- changing the NETID to other areas (not 42753), eg: hd_upc_ie_42747 resulted in as scan that found 48 Services all HD, except 2 SD.

Huevos

On the recordings we have got (291, 299) net id 43217 is "Other Network".

You need to go through the 26 transponders on that net id and find one that lists net id 43217 as "Actual Network".

The transponders in the attached image are the most likely candidates, as they are not used by the legacy network.

Thanks Abu/Huevos.

I went through each of the areas/frequencies in the latest xml file and each one returned 48 video and 0 radio services. Only 2 frequencies 401250 and 418500 returned no data found.

Were the 48 services just the HD channels?

Can you also attach the debug log from one of the 48 services run please?

Attached debug log + LCN files for Freq: 150000.

All 48 Services scanned were HD. (though i didn't check that was the case for every scan), I was only seeing services 48 video, so moved on each time.

:)

Also have results of the NIT analyser script when active channel is RTE1 SD and RTE1 HD (though script aborts with error). The HD scan is showing up another NETID 43219 (will try a scan tomorrow on this one).

More test files for you. We are going to test the lcnbat2 protocol on 299 frequency.

Please delete previous provider files and use this one. Provider name will be: "20160612 lcnbat2"
The three other files go in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/scanner Please restart after transferring, then test.

Upload your debug log afterwards. Please also comment as to what you get.

Thanks.

Looking good guys. ABM scan found 267 video and 31 radio services. :beer_toast:

Observations:

--channels are assigned to the wrong sections
--some channels have 'UNKNOWN' name or have odd characters (/~#!) appended to the name

Is the order correct?

No channels are random across all bouquets.

E.g. sports bouquet has itv/sky movies/sky news and comedy channels.

I included the lcn file in my last post. Do you want the bouquets export also?

I tried it there and my bouquets are all in order. No crossover with other categories.

I can upload my debug logs if someone can explain how I do it.

@eoinzy
See this thread:
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?44783-ABM-support-questions

Can you also post screenshots of your bouquets?
Which image are you using? I ask because 011 had a utf conversion addition to it in the bouquet writer,

Please try these.

I flashed my box to 4.1 011 dropped in the new files and restarted, ABM is missing from menu and this error is in the logs:

I doubled checked the files and dvbreader.so has 755 permission.

Thanks Huevos. Sorry for the delay in getting back..the Euros have taken over my life!!!

Think I made a mistake copying in the files without sleeping enigma (init 4) first. So no longer getting the crash problem/abm missing issue.

So flashed box to 4.1 12 and re-scanned on latest files, observations:

Do the channels that say "unknown" still work?
Do they relate to the correct number/service? i.e if you select position 102, is the channel RTE 2?

nosnikrap78
19-06-16, 21:22
Yes they work its just the name displayed that shows Unknown and the now and next info is correctly populated. So 102 is RTE2 but just shows as Unknown, though after I zap to the channel the name updates to the correct name.

No the one you have added doesn't work for me
The virgin media customer channel is on NETID 42753 Freq 442 Symbol 6875 QAM256 3/4 - currently watching it.

I know from googling, different parts of Dublin have different symbol rates but most links I saw state NETID as 42753. Didn't realise it was a legacy one.
No other NETID's work anyway.

Thanks a million again for all the work that went into this

This is a failure to lock on tuner, not a failure in ABM itself. If you have already scanned cable channels, can you attach the lamedb file. It will be in /etc/enigma2/ You will need to zip it before you can attach it.

A picture of your activation page on official box will be brilliant too. Obscure the activation code.

@cdrf, try this. Extract and place in the ABM provider directory. /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/providers

Debug logs will be required. Please run with just the cable provider to avoid logs becoming too large.

Hey abu baniaz
Thanks for this, ok getting there - that says it scanned in 150 odd video channels
Getting "Tune Failed!" on all of them. I notice the symbol rate on all the channels is 6887, in my working setup they're all 6875
Attached the debug log, also (and sorry if this is too much info) it doesn't seemed to have scanned in any HD Channels, if that's any help

Done. You should be able to update the provider file from within ABM using update config file option. If it does not work, please attach debug logs.

0xa8d0

Is this in relation to my post? If so is there steps how to provide this kind of info?

Yes it is from the log you posted. Transport steam recording requires a pc and usb device.

Yeah that's no problem, let me know how - thanks for the help.

You need a usb device like the Sundtek DVB-T/C tuner and software on the pc that can record the transport stream such as Transedit.

Ok thanks, I don't have a usb tuner. Out of interest why would my log show so many NETID's ?

Transedit comes bundled with DVBViewer. It will not work unless you have DVBViewer installed.
If you have a Sundtek tuner, see this thread: http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?50615-Sundtek-Tuner-Obtain-Transport-Stream-Recording
Alternatively, maybe noskinrap78 can assist?

Until you get a recording done, can you try these NetIDs I have used 6875 SR. If it does not work, try the next one.

42753
42754
42755
43216
43217
43218
43219
43220
43226

The provider name will be "Horizon Test"

We would not have to do this if you someone posted the Activation page screenshot. Thanks to Peter and Huevos, the coding in ABM is fine for 6875 symbol rate areas. This is demonstrated by Barneybuy's results. 1 post and got his result!

Because that is what is in the signal stream. Only "Pure" areas do not have details for other areas

Note: for the UK and RoI, you can use any NetID when doing a non-ABM scan and it will work.

Did a manual scan and that seems to have sorted it out ,might hold off daily scan for a while.

There is something that needs adjusting. Best if we can get a TS recording from the areas where it is not working.

@Barneybuy, can you upload a lamedb file where the channels are working. Upload another after a run of ABM (where they do not work). A debug log that shows ABM running may be beneficial.
