View Full Version : VU+ Duo 2 Split Recordings

Today I have several recordings that instead of being 1 file each, they are split into 2 files. So some of a programme will be in 1 file then the rest will be split into another file with _001 appended onto the end of the file name.

What causes that and how can I fix it? I thought it was just something that happened after a few months so after a couple of months I formatted my drive. However about 1 month later I've got the same problem again.

Where can I find the log file?

What file system is your HDD in?

No idea. I formatted the drive from within Vix. I've read when you do that that it automatically puts it in ext4?

Would it be a good idea to find out for definite? If you agree....
Blue > Vix > Mount Manager

Take a screenshot. There is a link in my signature.

Here you go. I've got a 480GB SSD installed. Does it matter if it's an SSD?

I uploaded the image for you but I've not heard anything from you. I formatted the drive again and it's not splitting the files anymore but I'd like to find out the cause.

How am I wasting it and how is your comment relevant to the problem?

All Rossi was implying was having a SSD is of no benefit to a normal HDD, in a computer it is another matter as a SSD gives you a quick boot up on windows etc, but it is of no benefit in a satellite receiver, thats all.

The benefit is that an SSD drive doesn't make any noise.

I have traditional hdd's in all my boxes, Mut@nt HD2400 and Vu+ Uno and Vu+ Solo2 n all quiet, no noise so of no benefit in my opinion, just more wonga!

I can hear quite a bit of noise from my Sky+ box so I was being proactive in installing an SSD in my VU+ Duo2. Didn't want to take a chance on there being noise.

Thats fair enough, great drives nonetheless. [emoji106]🏼

You would probably be better getting a 3TB 5500/5900rpm Hard Drive for your Duo2 and putting the SSD in your PC, i have a 3TB in my Duo2 and ET10k and never hear them and i use a 240 gig SSD in my PC and it boots Windows7 in 40 seconds, just a thought :D

I already have 2 SSDs in my PC.
