View Full Version : MGCamd won't activate..

I downloaded MGCamd 1.38 IPK file and uploaded to the box and the mg.cfg file, then I went to:
Menu > Setup > Vix > Local Extensions and I could see the IPK file so I went ahead and installed it - perfect, installed without issue.
I then restarted GUI and then went to Softcams Manager but it was not appearing so I manually uploaded the MGCam.cfg file to that location (usr/softcams) and tried to start the MG Cam but it doesn't show as Active.. just says the following:

Found None Standard Softcam, Trying to Start, This May Fail.

Then it refreshes to the Softcam setup screen after 10 seconds and that's it..

Have I missed something?

Wait for the plugin feeds to be back up and install it from the plugin menu

the only mgcamd I could get to work on my solo2 was 1.35a.

Installed mgcamd 1.38 from feed yesterday onto my VU+ SoloSE which is running openvix Hades005.
No problems and mgcamd runs correctly.

I did a factory reset just now, deleted the old mgcamd files and now doing software update (75 updates). Once this is done il install mgcamd 1.35a from the plugins list because thats what i was running on the old duo box and i know it worked well, not sure what the diff is with 1.38?

Will keep you posted - thanks for all the responses.

Update:

Went to Menu > Plugins > Download Plugins > MGCAMD 1.38 > it downloaded and when I try to start it from the softcam manager it says "No config files found, please setup MGcamd first in /var/keys"

Tried to downlaod the MGCAMD 1.35a and same thing, it downloaded and when I try to start it, it says "No config files found, please setup MGcamd first in /var/keys"

Is there a way I can complete erase the image along with whatever I've messed up and do a fresh install? Factory reset didn't delete the image.

You initial problem was you had installed an incompatible version. The ones from plugin menu resolve this.

However, they don't have any config files. You have to transfer your own mg_cfg

Reinstalling image will wipe everything.

Abu although the MGCamd 1.38 is now installed and active it is not displaying the channels correctly even when I restart it or reboot GUI.
Is it possible I need 1.35a?

I used it in my Vu+ Duo box which worked fine for years but copied it into the Duo2 and it doesn't work.. I'm not sure if its the mg_cfm or the newcamd.list though..

I have not compared the files. If the ones you were using have been fine with 1.35, then would be an idea to continue using 1.35a.

Okay, going to reflash the image and start afresh.. installing only 1.35a and then go from there. Hopefully this will solve it. Thank you

Update:

Reflashed latest vix image, then searched updates + updated the system.
Scanned using AutoBoquetMaker to get the channel listings - Free channels started working.

Installed mgcamd 1.35a from the plugins menu - This did not come with a mg_cfg file so I uploaded it along with my newcamd.list file to the /var/keys/ directory myself. I was then able to Start + Activate the mgcamd 1.35a.

Restarted the GUI, zapped to a paid channel and it was blank, pressed blue button > Softcam Manager > Yellow Button (Restart) and the softcam restarted and is appearing active.. but the channel stays blank.

Could this be an issue with the newcamd.list or other possibilities as well?

Does usr/keys open. Put them in there.
