Hi all, Over the last few months i've had a problem with my box which i will explain in a second, I was using the HD image which no longer seems to have updates so i decided i needed to try the latest image to fix my problem but still the problem persists, here is what's happening:

Randomly the record symbol comes up on the front of my Vu+ Solo 2 box even though i'm not recording anything or nothing has been scheduled to record and there is no way to make it disappear until i Restart GUI, The biggest problem here is that if i goto turn my box over to another channel i then get a black screen as if there is no free tuners even though both should be free and as stated before i have nothing scheduled to record, in the EPG no channels are greyed when this happens they're white as they should be.

Has anyone experienced this? If so is there an easy fix?

Many Thanks

Hello mate it sounds like someone has gained access to your Solo2 as the symptoms that you are describing is a common indicator that you have been hacked

Do you have remote access setup?

It's not setup by default.

I don't think so. How can I be sure I haven't done this by mistake?

Plug out your network cable is probably the fastest way to check.

Close your ports on your router if you have them open.

Open telnet and type "netstat" so you can see if someone else is connected to your receiver.

Usage: netstat [-ral] [-tuwx] [-enWp]

Display networking information

-r Routing table
-a All sockets
-l Listening sockets
Else: connected sockets
-t TCP sockets
-u UDP sockets
-w Raw sockets
-x Unix sockets
Else: all socket types
-e Other/more information
-n Don't resolve names
-W Wide display
-p Show PID/program name for sockets

I've managed to stop the REC symbol coming up on my box but now when I record something it's like I've no free tuner left even though tuner B should be free. The minute I stop the recording my TV signal comes back?

No still showing as two tuners and both are configured correctly. I even disabled Tuner A to make sure Tuner B wasn't faulty and it worked as it should so I'm confused?

have you tried disabling tuner B and see if A is working,

if when recording are all channels greyed out??

I'll try now disabling B and No the channels aren't greyed out which suggests I should have a tuner free.

I went and disabled B and A played fine. I disabled A again just to make sure and B played fine. Really strange

I just tried again to make sure it was still happening and yes it is. I started recording on a channel, I flicked over and it's black screen. I've tried a terrestrial channel and it's working?

Which softcam are you using? Please also state version number.

Which USB tuner are you using for your Terrestrial channels? Onboard tuners on Solo 2 only do satellite so cannot obtain Terrestrial transmissions.
