View Full Version : Flashed the latest Hades, but box wouldn't reboot.
After deciding to reflash my LX2, and having a fresh start, I spent 40 mins setting it up,come to reboot it and it wouldn't boot up
Ended up flashing back to a Apollo.
Don't know why it wouldn't reboot?
No logs captured before you flashed back?
Miracle Box twin
I couch flashed today to hades 05 and then set it up afresh. I then went into deep standby and then switched off at the mains. On subsequent switch on my box would not come out of the boot sequence. The spinning VIX was shown twice as well the hades splash screen - than a blank screen whilst the front panel said booting. I left it for 10 minutes before removing the mains power. Retried booting a few times - same result.
Subsequently re-flashing using the USB stick method worked.

(Although, as noted, in my case the second reboot after flashing went OK).
PS: This is also on an MB Twin.

Still no logs, almost impossible to debug/fix so.

Sorry no, I've been messing about with this box for days just trying to get it set up right and just wanted it working again so I could leave it for a while before I through it out of the window.
Didn't make me feel any better when shortly after my hd in my Nas started to fail where I keep my recordings.
try reflashing again, sometimes it fixes the issue

I just took delivery of 2 new LX1 this morning..
Both flashed right away with Hades 005 .. and no issues.. Both receivers have been rebooted at least 5 times to make sure all was ok.. as i read last night you were having issues..
I suggest you go back to openvix.co.uk and download the LX1 image again.. and put that to usb stick.. and flash again..
Your last download must have become corrupt.. hence your problems..
I'm going to leave it for now, don't think I can be bothered setting it up again atm, the wife is going mental with mi tinkering all the time.
I'm going to upgrade to the Vu solo/ Duo sometime in the future so I'll see what updates are available then

Tried that no joy.

Its nothing to do with updates buddy..
Ill bet its something as simple as a corrupt download.. So there was no point in using the same image to flash again if it was corrupt..
You must download a fresh copy of Hades 005 from openvix.co.uk.. and then extract it to your usb pen drive..
You will have the box running in 10 mins..

It comes down as a zip file.
To install on a box the error checking in the zip file would have to pass, and then, I assume, also pass the CRC (cyclic redundancy check) associated with the contained image file.
Am I actually missing much with this update?

I see nothing different on the screen or menus. What you will get is a horrendously ugly Hades start-up splash screen.
I only updated because I was getting some reliability problems with my box and wanted a complete fresh install. I'm now running with a reformatted internal hard disk, a new USB stick (for epg storage) and nothing other than what came with the image download.

I quite like it. Also no need to be so rude, someone put work into that & you're using the image fore free!
Bootlogos can also easily be changed using the plugin feeds.
I had a similar issue on initial flash on all my boxes mut@nt, miracle box, lx1, lx2 but after reboot all was fine, no issues.

I saw the start up screen many times, didn't ever get pass it, because of my reboot problem. And yes I'll agree it's ugly.

If you want something else it's a simple task to put it in place (my box is set to switch randomly between a set of different FullHD images, although it usually boots up when the TV isn't switched to the box anyway, so I usually miss them).

Do you have a USB stick inserted when this is happening.. ?
If yes.. Remove it.. and try again..
Can't remember now if I removed it or not, I'll try again sometime.
