View Full Version : should I get xtrend et 8000
My brother has agreed to pat half but he wants to know the recording possibilities?
it records same as any other receiver on vix. i think it can take a 2.5 or 3.5 HDD. the box looks impressive and good price. depending what you plan to do with it
You're not going to find a better spec/supported reciever @ £209 ;)
I have just got the ET10000 and it is a Superb receiver and very well made, and the ET8000 looks like a proper bargain i would Definitely buy one and it has one of the best remote controls of any receiver i have ever used
Oh you bought the xtrend et10000 nsw
If you had to choose from the mut@nt or xtrend. What would it be?

It's white (perhaps creamy white :) ) or black - the ET8000 is only black.

Unless you specifically want the ET10000 features (HDMI In, 2nd LAN/Vlan, Transcoding, 4 Sat cards) then the ET8000 is a real good box ..... but then comes the ET8500 :)

The metalic gun metal/silver colour is really nice, photos dont do it justice.

What's the main differences between the 8000 and 8500?
et8000 here :- http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Digital-Satellite-Receivers/Xtrend-Linux-HD-Receivers/Xtrend-ET8000-2x-DVB-C-T-T2-1x-DVB-S2

In my defense i have put my Gigablue Quad+ back in it's box and will be selling it soon :D
The Mut@nt and Xtrend ET10k are both fantastic receivers and equally as good as each other in my opinion, but the ET10k has one of the best remote controls i have ever used every button that i use the most are easy to reach with my thumb
Don't let the color put you off it's the receiver you are buying, would you buy a rubbish car because it looks nice but it has no engine and you have to push it :nono:

I agree. The remote control for the xtrend kills the remote for the mut@nt.

Does the ET10k remote work on a Mut@nt HD2400 by any chance? [emoji87]

Well it's probably an option when you go to configure remote setup.
Check if it's on the list

or go the whole way (replacing the remote)and you can use a Harmony Home hub (controlled by your phone/tablet) which also includes an IR extender for those awkward areas - works reasonably well. (and I am not a Harmony fan:) ) but you need WiFi connection to your home network. ... or look at Roomie Remote (my favourite as I use it to control everything) which controls equipment (in general) via the receivers IP address (but needs an Ipad ... can also use IR with an extender) ... and most of my gear is behind closed doors.
ahh wifi in another room and downstairs for laptop, nice to know something out there works .
