I've now cancelled my Sly subscription and ordered my HD2400. My plan is to move to Freesat using the existing dish.

Do I need to buy a new card? Or can I put the old one straight into my HD2400? I assume you need a card of some description to receive channels?

Will I continue to receive Dave and Dave Ja Vu?

Maybe you need to visit the freesat site to see exactly what channels are available... Last time I checked Dave wasn't available on freesat... And no you don't need a card.

I don't think I made myself clear. I plan to use fSfS (Freesat From Sky) rather than Freeview.

As I understand the below are soft encoded and viewable to fSfS card users.

Five HD
SonyTV
SonyTV +1
Sony Movies
Sony Movies +1
Viva TV
Motors TV UK
LFC TV

FTA
FTV
Freesat
Freesat from Sky
Freeview

Best to understand difference between them and distinguish which is being referred to.

Difference between FTV and FTA: Viewing card with entitlements required for FTV. Ch5 HD will not show on third party receivers even with a card. Others will be fine.
