I have my Vu+solo2 set up on wifi and it works fine with Filezilla and dreamset but when i try to download plugins it says no network.

What exact image version do you have on the receiver.

Menu> Information> About. Please include the build number as well as the image version.

I had the exact problem..same as you I could FTP and download images from image manager but no plugins or software update..very strange.
Solved this by changing usb wifi adapter and everything back to normal.

Doubt it. Quite possibly using an image that no longer has access to plugin feeds.
